Camp Overview
The summer camp is designed for students entering grades 3rd through 8th and provides engaging, hands-on learning experiences through biology, art, and athletic activities. Camp counselors help create a safe, positive, educational, and fun environment while supporting campers throughout all daily activities.

Position Summary
Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising campers, assisting instructors, leading group activities, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and encouraging positive participation during all camp experiences. Counselors serve as role models while helping campers build confidence, teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Dates of Employment
Three-day summer camp session (specific dates and hours determined by the college).
Reports To: Summer Camp Director / Camp Coordinator
Work Schedule
Daily Camp Hours: 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Counselors may be required to arrive early for setup and remain after camp for cleanup and staff meetings
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or equivalent required
College coursework in education, recreation, biology, art, athletics, child development, or related fields preferred
Experience working with children or youth programs preferred
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to supervise groups of children in both indoor and outdoor settings
Ability to maintain professionalism and positive interactions with campers, parents, and staff
CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supervise and actively engage with campers in grades 3rd–8th
Assist with biology, art, and athletic camp activities
Escort campers safely between activity locations on campus
Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive camp environment
Encourage teamwork, cooperation, and positive behavior
Assist instructors with preparing materials and activity setup
Monitor camper attendance and participate in check-in/check-out procedures
Respond appropriately to minor conflicts or behavioral concerns
Ensure campers follow all safety guidelines and campus rules
Provide encouragement and support to all campers
Assist with snack, lunch, and break supervision
Communicate concerns or incidents promptly to camp leadership
Participate in staff meetings and daily camp briefings
Serve as a positive representative of the college and camp program
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to participate in outdoor athletic activities
Ability to lift and carry activity supplies up to 25 pounds
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments during summer weather conditions
