The<strong> Site Safety Officer</strong> is responsible for ensuring full compliance with <strong>NYS DOSH</strong>, <strong>NYC DEP</strong>, <strong>NYC DOT</strong>, and <strong>OSHA</strong> regulations across active project sites. This role provides daily oversight of field operations, enforces public safety requirements, conducts inspections, and supports incident prevention and response activities. The Site Safety Officer works closely with project management, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>M&J Engineering, P.C. Today, we are still dedicated to the highest levels of work and client satisfaction, standing steadfast to our corporate motto of finding “<em>Innovative and State of the Art Solutions</em>”. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Site Safety Oversight</strong> — Monitor daily field activities to ensure compliance with NYS DOSH, OSHA, NYC DEP, and NYC DOT rules, including permit conditions, HASP requirements, and Maintenance & Protection of Traffic (MPT) plans.</li>\n <li><strong>Daily Safety Inspections</strong> — Conduct and document routine site inspections; identify hazards; verify corrective actions; maintain digital inspection logs.</li>\n <li><strong>Regulatory Compliance</strong> — Ensure adherence to OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, NYS Industrial Code Rule 23, DEP site protocols, DOT traffic control standards, and project‑specific safety requirements.</li>\n <li><strong>Public Safety Management</strong> — Implement controls to protect pedestrians, motorists, and the surrounding community; verify barricades, signage, and traffic devices meet DOT specifications.</li>\n <li><strong>Incident Response</strong> — Lead initial incident investigations, secure the scene, collect statements, prepare preliminary reports, and communicate findings within required timeframes.</li>\n <li><strong>Training & Coaching</strong> — Reinforce safe work practices, conduct toolbox talks, and support onboarding of new personnel.</li>\n <li><strong>Documentation & Reporting</strong> — Maintain accurate records including JHAs, permits, inspection forms, corrective action logs, and regulatory notifications.</li>\n <li><strong>Coordination with Agencies</strong> — Interface with NYC DEP, DOT inspectors, and other authorities during audits, walkthroughs, and compliance checks.</li>\n <li><strong>Contractor Oversight</strong> — Verify subcontractor compliance with HASP, PPE requirements, and project safety standards.</li>\n <li><strong>Emergency Preparedness</strong> — Support emergency planning, drills, and response readiness.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Apply through this site or send resume to </strong><strong>[email protected]</strong><strong>.</strong></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum <strong>1–5 years</strong> of experience in construction, environmental, or utility‑related safety.</li>\n <li>Strong working knowledge of <strong>OSHA 1910/1926</strong>, <strong>NYS DOSH</strong>, <strong>NYC DEP safety protocols</strong>, and <strong>NYC DOT traffic control/MPT requirements</strong>.</li>\n <li>Ability to interpret and enforce <strong>HASP</strong>, <strong>MPT</strong>, <strong>permit conditions</strong>, and <strong>site‑specific safety plans</strong>.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in digital inspection platforms and safety reporting tools.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication, documentation, and field‑coordination skills.</li>\n <li>Ability to work across multiple active sites and respond rapidly to incidents or regulatory inquiries.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desirable)</strong></p>\n<p>Candidates with nationally recognized safety credentials will be given priority consideration:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>ASP</strong> – Associate Safety Professional</li>\n <li><strong>CSP</strong> – Certified Safety Professional</li>\n <li><strong>GSP</strong> – Graduate Safety Practitioner</li>\n <li><strong>CHST</strong> – Construction Health & Safety Technician</li>\n <li><strong>OHST</strong> – Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician</li>\n <li>NYC DOB SST Supervisor Card</li>\n <li>Experience supporting DEP, DOT, or heavy civil/utility projects</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Core Competencies</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Risk Assessment</strong> and hazard recognition</li>\n <li><strong>Regulatory interpretation</strong> and enforcement</li>\n <li><strong>Field leadership</strong> and conflict resolution</li>\n <li><strong>Incident investigation</strong> and root‑cause analysis</li>\n <li><strong>Public safety protection</strong> in urban environments</li>\n <li><strong>Technical writing</strong> for reports and documentation</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical & Work Environment Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to safely navigate active construction sites, including walking, standing, and climbing for extended periods as needed. </li>\n <li>Work performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.</li>\n <li>Travel between multiple borough‑based sites as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits</h2>\n<p>M&J is a leader in providing quality engineering consulting services to a diverse and exciting client base.
