Description
Essential Functions: Teaching the Basic Quality Measurements - Metrology course to an apprenticeship group on Fridays during business hours at LCCC as a part-time adjunct faculty member. Class and hands-on lab assignments emphasize learning proper use and care of quality measuring instruments or devices. Students will be trained in measurement techniques and procedures based on industry standards and practices. Advanced precision measurement devices, methods for inspection, maintenance and care of instruments, and writing technical reports are also introduced. Course topics include instrument calibration, optical flats, reference planes, angle measurement, CMM, Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, optical comparators, and pneumatic measurement equipment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or closely related field; Must have demonstrable experience in the measurement topics covered in the course; A minimum of five years industry experience; Effective communication and interpersonal skills; Available to teach during the day, in-person at LCCC; Operate a computer to post syllabus, grades, and attendance; Adhere to College policies and procedures; Be responsive to student questions and requests for assistance; Participate in the assessment of student academic achievement; Attend Fall Convocation and/or adjunct faculty development; Fulfill all contracted hours as scheduled; Ability to use modern educational technology such as multimedia-based instruction.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or closely related field; Evidence of successful prior teaching experience at the community college level; Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
