Description The University of Maine at Presque Isle seeking to hire a Head Women’s Softball Coach/ Retention Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, this 12-month, full-time role is responsible for leading all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III softball program, including recruiting, coaching, student-athlete development, program administration, and compliance with university and NCAA policies. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will serve as the Athletics Department Retention Coordinator, leading student-athlete retention initiatives in collaboration with campus partners, supporting academic success efforts, serving as a liaison with Student Support Services, and advising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). We are seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional committed to excellence, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and gender equity. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and leadership skills, knowledge of athletic recruitment and NCAA Division III compliance, and the ability to mentor and develop student-athletes while fostering a cooperative, inclusive environment. This individual will promote academic success, safety, sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive student-athlete experiences while contributing to departmental operations, including game management responsibilities and other duties as assigned. The position requires the ability to travel for extended periods of time for athletic contests and related activities. The work schedule varies and includes evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours based on athletic schedules and departmental needs. An anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.
