Description

Description The Senior Assistant Director of Admission is a vital member of Davidson’s Office of Admission and Financial Aid and plays a crucial role in identifying, attracting, and enrolling the best and brightest students from across the country and the world. This position also plays several key support roles related to all aspects of the work, from recruitment and outreach to territory management and yield. Position Summary The Senior Assistant Director of Admission will be responsible for conducting information sessions for campus visitors, evaluating applicants for admission, and managing all recruiting aspects of an assigned territory which will include traveling to college fairs, high school visits, and other regional events. They will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, community-based organizations, and campus partners. They must possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and maintain a strong attention to detail. This role will also progressively assume responsibilities related to the programming and selection of the College’s fall and spring fly-in programs. Essential Job Functions Review applications by evaluating academic preparation and personal characteristics to advocate for applicants while supporting the College’s enrollment and scholarship goals. Primarily, this means reviewing applications from an assigned regional territory, with additional reading as needed, and presenting applications during committee meetings. Meet with prospective students and their families for individual and group information sessions. Counsel students and families on the admission and financial aid process. Manage recruitment efforts in an assigned territory that will include college fairs, high school visits, case study programs, panels, and other admission programs. Oversee the fall and spring college visit programs designed for high school seniors who will be the first in their family to attend college, students from rural or low-income backgrounds, and/or students who do not have the means to visit campus independently; this includes working within budget, developing communication plans, collaborating on application strategy and timeline, and maintaining relationships with campus partners, high schools, and community based organizations. Work on a team selecting students for college visit programs with the goal of progressively taking on responsibility for overseeing the fly-in programs’ selection process, including coordinating a team of application readers. Inform admission outreach strategy by benchmarking, collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to surveys and participation feedback. Liaise with campus partners as needed. Take on special projects and assignments that align with office and institutional goals. Required Knowledge & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve as challenges arise within a fast paced, deadline-oriented work environment. Ability to manage multiple deadlines Proficiency with technology systems (particularly spreadsheets and calendar applications) Experience with admission software such as Google Suite, EMS Booking, and Slate Technolutions, including comfort with mailings, queries, configurable joins, and reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an interest in public speaking. Strong editorial skills; able to write and edit effectively and efficiently. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Sound judgment and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Empathetic, good-humored and professional demeanor with excellent, inclusive internal and external customer service skills that keep the best interests of Davidson and guests in mind. Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to a diverse academic community, fostering an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from a variety of social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications Four (4) years of previous experience in a college admission or educational environment.
