AECOM has an opening for an experienced Electrical Engineer to be based in San Diego, CA .
The Electrical Engineer will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative team with a range of expertise supporting the expansion of their knowledge base with the ability to travel and gain field experience.
Join a practice filled with professionals pioneering Energy Conservation and Zero Carbon initiatives, focusing on renewable energy projects for high-performance buildings. About Buildings + Places :
Our Buildings + Places practice includes architecture, interiors, building and system engineering, urbanism, and planning, strategy +, economics, technology solutions, asset advisory, and cost and program management. This team assists our clients from strategy through project realization, creating positive outcomes for those who occupy and use the buildings and environments we help to create. Our practice focuses on the Commercial/Corporate, Science and Technology, Higher Education and Federal market sectors. Job Summary / Responsibilities
Provide electrical engineering support throughout all project phases, from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy. Perform portions of broader engineering assignments under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. Gather, analyze, and correlate engineering data using established methods and procedures. Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, and visual presentation materials. Develop electrical system designs and construction documents for power, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems. Support the review of shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and field issues during the construction administration phase. Conduct site visits to collect data and evaluate existing electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure. Develop designs within a BIM environment using Revit and other design software. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, client requirements, and project objectives. Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams to support project scope, quality, budget, and schedule requirements. Prepare technical memoranda, studies, and reports for internal and external stakeholders. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and applicable electrical codes and standards. Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and designers to support successful project delivery.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field, plus 2+ years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an ABET-accredited university. Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering practices. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the FE Exam. Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM-based project delivery. Experience performing power system studies using SKM, ETAP, or EasyPower. Experience with lighting calculations using Visual, AGi32, or ElumTools. Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Self-motivated with a strong desire for professional growth and mentorship.
