In a small, innovative, local R&D team, part of a larger global R&D, your tasks are centered around the development of new analytical (mass spectrometer) instrumentation. In the role offered you focus on the development, continuous improvement, and maintenance of modular electronics used in these high-sensitivity analytical instruments. You work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary development team with SW developers as well as scientists, mechanical, and electrical engineers. You work in a small group but part of a larger company, with opportunity to connect and consult with peers from other Bruker development teams around the world. Responsibilities Develop real-time firmware in close collaboration with colleagues from device development, electronics, SW, and PC-based device control. Maintain, debug, and improve existing firmware components. Your responsibilities also involve contributing to the creation of new, improved, innovative firmware/software concepts. Design your own or improve existing designs of electronic control components used in our mass spectrometer instrument. Select components, simulate designs, layout your own designs, or guide other layout engineers Test and debug boards on the bench and as part of instrumentation systems in the lab Find and select vendors including local board and assembly houses and maintain relationships to allow fast turnaround prototype work Provide documentation, design transfer to production, and oversee scale up into production Collaborate closely with our global R&D team of scientists and engineers, nest into our design and development plan, and hold peer design reviews Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 5+ years industry experience and Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or have a comparable background. Knowledge in the areas of embedded systems and operating systems, preferably Linux or FreeRTOS, which you have gained through your education or professional experience. Knowledge of C++ for embedded systems. Proven record of electrical board design. Altium experience is a plus. Terms like version control, bug tracking, and cross-compiling are familiar to you. You are characterized by a structured, goal-oriented, and organized way of working. You can work idepentently, self-motivated in an interdisciplinary team. You must be capable of independent judgment in design selection, research approaches, methodologies, and tools. You have strong communication skills and a pronounced ability to work in a team, and your commitment completes your qualification profile. At Bruker, the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between 86,400 USD and 153,500 USD and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits, including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
