    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p>The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as a Physician Assistant (PA). The APP is a member of the Hillsboro Professional Staff, OHSU Professional Staff and Adventist Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The APP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university¿s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.</p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<p><strong>1) Clinical Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>a) Inpatient Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive inpatient and follow-up care for surgical patients, starting with surgical support through admission and discharge at OHSU and Hillsboro Medical Center. This role supports Bariatric, Vascular, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Surgical Oncology surgical services.</li>\n <li>Key Responsibilities:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Conduct daily rounds with attending physicians and develop patient care plans/protocols in collaboration with faculty across multiple surgical services.</li>\n   <li>Educate residents, interns, and nursing staff on care protocols to improve quality of care, enhance patient services, and reduce hospital stays.</li>\n   <li>Partner with hospital and unit staff to implement effective discharge planning and address length-of-stay issues.</li>\n   <li>Support patient health through coordination with ancillary services, patient education, and family counseling.</li>\n   <li>Lead and participate in clinical in-service training and ongoing staff education initiatives for the inpatient teams.</li>\n   <li>Ensure adherence to all institutional customer service standards.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>b) Operating Room Responsibilities: Provide operating room and procedural assistance to Bariatric, Vascular, Plastic. Surgical Oncology and General surgeons as determined by the Division Head or their designee(s). Includes assistance in performing laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>2) General Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>a) Teaching: Providing teaching of General Surgery surgical and diagnostic treatments to medical students, interns, residents, inpatient general surgery nursing staff, and other Division support staff on the inpatient and/or outpatient service. Providing and/or participating in clinical in-services and staff educational programs for the outpatient & inpatient General Surgery service.</li>\n <li>b) Call Coverage: Provide daily call support for patients on inpatient service. Shared weekend call coverage of inpatients is also expected.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Minimum two years clinical experience. Wound Care experience a plus.</p></li>\n <li><p>Current BLS Certification (ACLS a plus)</p></li>\n <li><p>Leadership and motivational attributes</p></li>\n <li><p>Analytical and organizational skills</p></li>\n <li><p>Excellent communication skills</p></li>\n <li><p>Customer Satisfaction aptitude</p></li>\n <li><p>Relationship-building expertise</p></li>\n <li><p>Results-driven orientation</p></li>\n <li><p>Professional in appearance and manner</p></li>\n <li><p>Computer literate</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to build goodwill through positive interaction with patients and patient families, facility staff, referring physicians and OHSU Digestive Health Center staff and Hillsboro General Surgery staff.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Education: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Demonstrated ability to satisfy standards of performance delineated by law and associated professional practice standards, the latter set forth as an addendum to the position description.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.</p></li>\n <li><p>Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software.</p></li>\n <li><p>Regular and consistent attendance at work</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Registration with the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed Physician Assistant, license from the Oregon Board of Nursing; Drug Enforcement Association certification required.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Why apply to OHSU?</h2>\n<b>We are Oregon's only public academic health center.</b> In addition to caring for patients, we lead groundbreaking research.
