    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>TITLE: <span style=\"color: #222222\">SOCIAL STUDIES/HUMANITIES TEACHER</span></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL</span></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Primary Purpose:</span></span></p>\n<p><span>The Social Studies Teacher’s responsibilities include teaching elements of history, geography, politics, economics, religion, and culture to pupils.</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Responsibilities:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Setting up schedules, lesson plans, and selecting learning material and resources that will help achieve curriculum objectives.</span></li>\n<li><span>Analyzing needs, interests, strengths, and weaknesses of students, and developing lesson plans in accordance with these factors.</span></li>\n<li><span>Monitoring progress and discipline and keeping parents and school counselors informed of learners who need extra support.</span></li>\n<li><span>Establishing classroom and debating rules, and ensuring all students obey these rules.</span></li>\n<li><span>Requesting appropriate textbooks and learning aids.</span></li>\n<li><span>Organizing field trips and ensuring permission slips are handed out and signed in a timely manner.</span></li>\n<li><span>Participating in school events and acting as a chaperone when required.</span></li>\n<li><span>Attending meetings, staff training, conferences, and other ongoing learning programs.</span></li>\n<li><span>Informing students of learning opportunities and preparing them for formal debates and other events.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Qualifications:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Native English speaker preferred.</span></li>\n<li><span>Degree in Education, History, Geography, or a related discipline.</span></li>\n<li><span>Master’s degree preferable.</span></li>\n<li><span>Relevant certification or license may be required.</span></li>\n<li><span>Excellent interpersonal, communication, and debating skills.</span></li>\n<li><span>Ability to remain calm under pressure.</span></li>\n<li><span>Strong multitasking abilities and sound knowledge of current events.</span></li>\n<li><span>Strong cultural sensitivity.</span></li>\n<li><span>Exceptional organizational and communication skills</span></li>\n<li><span>Dedication to students and education</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">About American Baccalaureate School:</span></p>\n<p>ABS is a private, non­-profit school offering an American-based curriculum including a wide variety of advanced courses, and a college preparatory program, guiding students to become independent, intellectual global citizens.
