Our world-class training will prepare you for the job!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>What is a Recreation Assistant?</strong></p>\n<p>The Recreation Assistant is responsible for implementing a variety of activities related to health, physical education, recreation and aquatics for individuals served by Damar Services. The Recreation Assistant will assist with the care and supervision of clients during activities.</p>\n<p><strong>Where would I work with clients?</strong></p>\n<p>For this particular role, you could work on our Children's Residential campus located at 6067 Decatur Boulevard in Indianapolis.</p>\n<p><strong>Here are just a few of the benefits you'll enjoy at Damar:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Eligible for the Damar Advantage including discounts at Damar Health Services and Damar Pharmacy</li>\n <li>Comprehensive training in verbal intervention and physical management techniques</li>\n <li>Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance options</li>\n <li>Up to $3,000 per year in Tuition Assistance</li>\n <li>Save for your retirement with our 401(k) Plan Participation</li>\n <li>Take care of loved ones through our Damar provided Life Insurance and additional voluntary options</li>\n <li>Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance options</li>\n <li>Paid Holidays to spend time with loved ones</li>\n <li>Paid Time Off (PTO) for rest and renewal</li>\n</ul>\n<p></p>\n<h2></h2>\n<p><strong>Remarkable ways you will be making a difference:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Implements activities utilizing Damar’s pool and fitness center as scheduled by the Recreation Director</li>\n <li>Assists the Recreation Director in conducting pre- and post-testing or resident fitness abilities</li>\n <li>Conducts adaptive physical education classes for on-grounds school</li>\n <li>Coordinates Special Olympic programs, as directed</li>\n <li>Assists the Recreation Director in providing aquatic assessments, training and certification services for clients and staff</li>\n <li>Assists the Recreation Director in maintaining inventory of all supplies affiliated with the pool and fitness center</li>\n <li>Participates in maintaining Damar’s pool and fitness facility</li>\n <li>Works with clients to attain fitness or skill objectives</li>\n <li>Ensures programs are conducted in compliance with appropriate safety standards</li>\n <li>Reports any safety issues with respect to recreational equipment, grounds or facilities</li>\n <li>Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas</li>\n <li>Maintains neat, chronological and timely records of assigned recreational events and activities</li>\n <li>Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned</li>\n <li>Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner</li>\n <li>Maintains documentation that is accurate and legible</li>\n</ul>\n<h2></h2>\n<p><strong>What you need to be considered:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED required</li>\n <li>Prior experience implementing recreational programs for children with developmental and/or emotional disabilities is desired</li>\n <li>Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements</li>\n <li>Certification as Lifeguard required within 90 days from start date</li>\n <li>Water Safety Instructor required within 90 days from start date</li>\n <li>Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification</li>\n <li>Ability to pass and maintain CPR Certification</li>\n <li>Be clear of any felony convictions, substantiated charges of neglect or other disqualifying criminal convictions</li>\n <li>Successfully complete a pre-employment physical</li>\n <li>Favorably meet and maintain Damar’s background screening</li>\n</ul>\n<p>#DSCare</p>",
