    "description": "<p>We are seeking a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sr. Production Supervisor, 1st Shift</span> to join our federal team at our <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">York, PA</span> Grantley plant location.<br>Johnson Controls Navy Systems (JCNS) designs and manufactures high‑reliability chilled water A/C plants, refrigeration systems, and related equipment for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. All products are built in York, PA to strict military and customer specifications.  The Sr. Production Supervisor leads a team of welding and fabrication trades responsible for producing large, complex A/C plant components. This role ensures team performance in safety, quality, cost, and delivery, while coordinating work across all shifts and supervising up to 30 employees.</p>\n<p><br>At Johnson Controls, we support our nation’s most critical facilities, the people who occupy them, and the missions they enable. We help modernize U.S. military installations, Department of Defense and other federal agency facilities to be smarter, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Pay:</span> $76,100 - $95,000 base salary.  (Negotiable based on experience and qualifications)<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Bonus Eligible</span>: Yes<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Shift:</span> 1st Shift<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Benefits:</span> Eligible for benefits on first day of employment<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Paid Time Off:</span> 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays (6.5 weeks in total)</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>As a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Sr. Production Supervisor</span>, you will:<br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build strong relationships with employees to drive productivity and best practices.</li>\n<li>Remove barriers, resolve conflicts, and promote a collaborative, team‑first environment.</li>\n<li>Work cross‑functionally to support continuous improvement and meet plant goals.</li>\n<li>Supports the development and standardize work practices to improve quality and reduce errors.</li>\n<li>Monitor material non‑conformances and variances; take action to strengthen fabrication processes.</li>\n<li>Ensure adherence to work instructions and maintain proper 6s/housekeeping.</li>\n<li>Champion a safety‑first culture and enforce all safety procedures.</li>\n<li>Coordinate daily/weekly production plans with department leaders.</li>\n<li>Review backlog, prioritize at‑risk orders, and work with production control on scheduling.</li>\n<li>Provide training for new hires and ongoing training for all employees; maintain training records.</li>\n<li>Enforce plant rules, policies, and procedures; address conflicts when needed.</li>\n<li>Verify quality‑readiness of units and confirm required documentation before inspection.</li>\n<li>Assess staffing needs, participate in hiring, and support employee development.</li>\n<li>Ensure on‑time unit starts to meet shipping goals.</li>\n<li>Maintain daily labor and attendance records.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required Qualifications:<br><br></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide unionized manufacturing teams in a fast‑paced environment.</li>\n<li>Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.</li>\n<li>Strong relationship‑building and coaching abilities.</li>\n<li>Experience in heavy manufacturing preferred.</li>\n<li>Welding knowledge desired; Navy welding standards NAVSEA 248/278.</li>\n<li>Proven problem‑solving abilities.</li>\n<li>Experience in a union environment preferred.</li>\n<li>Knowledge of continuous improvement manufacturing systems (6s, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma)</li>\n<li>Knowledge of quality management systems ISO9001:2015 &amp; ISO14001:2015).</li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experienced with Lean implementation</li>\n<li>Experienced with supervising Union/Manufacturing employees (Up to 30 direct reports)<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Education:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associate degree required; 12 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.</li>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree preferred; 8 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Who We Are</span></p>\n<p>The primary mission of Johnson Controls Navy Systems is to supply Chilled Water Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Systems and associated equipment to the US Navy and US Coast Guard.
