JOB TYPE Classification: Exempt Supervises Positions: Yes JOB SUMMARY The Nurse Manager’s primary job responsibility is to deliver the most remarkable patient experience, in every dimension, every time. The Nurse Manager facilitates an environment that allows staff to be present with patients and their families by supporting their desire to positively impact the health and well-being of our patients, our families, and our communities through the nursing process. The Nurse Manager strives to spend at least 50% of his/her time on the unit and is visible, present, and available to staff to provide necessary mentoring, teaching and support. Nurse Managers develop and maintain collegial relationships with physicians, clinical educators, and other interdisciplinary team members. She/he provides leadership and creates a strategy to achieve the best outcomes including but not limited to quality, financial vitality, employee, and customer satisfaction. The Nurse Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for the Cancer Center Infusion and Clinic, ensuring safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. This role oversees nursing practice, staff management, and clinic operations, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and operational efficiency. The Nurse Manager reports to the Department Director/Senior Director. Clinical Leadership: Supervise the delivery of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive infusions. Ensure adherence to oncology protocols, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines. Promote evidence-based practices and continuous quality improvement. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other care providers to coordinate patient care. Staff Management: Lead and support nursing and ancillary staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations. Develop staffing schedules and manage coverage to ensure smooth clinic operations. Foster a culture of accountability, professional development, and team collaboration. Analysis: Analyzes processes and creates deliverables to provide information and recommendations for improvements. Breaks down problems and issues into sub-components and assesses the costs, benefits, and risks of various options. Is able to select and recommend the best solution based on a thorough examination of all considerations. Is able to explain and justify actions in a systematic and logical fashion. Communication: Shares and receives information using clear oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills. Actively listens, provides constructive feedback, and demonstrates respect for differing views. Tailors communications to diverse audiences. Quality Improvement: Demonstrates involvement in the unit’s annual and/or periodic assessment efforts, including efforts to improve the quality services. Understands the value of innovation and quality improvement. Improves processes and practices by identifying inefficiencies and redundancies. Demonstrates efficiency and quality in one’s own work. Customer Service: Builds relationships and maintains strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. Understands the importance of quality service. Is able to adjust and adapt service delivery to diverse customer needs and sensitivities. Frequently suggests and implements changes to improve the quality of service . Financial Management: Manages tasks and resources within the department to achieve quality and meet budget requirements. Ensures that financial and material resources are used effectively and efficiently. Leverages resources to maximize utility and return on investment (ROI). Implements measures to minimize theft, damage, or equipment breakdown. The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: 4 Year/Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Graduate Degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical RN experience in an acute care setting required. Oncology experience preferred. 2 years of supervisory experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: Current RN licensure in applicable state required. Certification in specialized area preferred. Additional Skills/Requirements Required : Understands and applies: current and future trends/practice in area of responsibility; regulatory and governing standards, policies and procedures; information systems and software used in area of responsibility; equipment used in performing assigned duties; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; skills in interviewing and selection process; understanding of budgeting, staffing, payroll and purchasing processes; implementation of competency, feedback, development and progressive discipline processes; teambuilding, conflict management, and interpersonal relationship skills; principles of adult learning and teaching methods/models; decision making, project leadership and consultation, delegation and communication skills; customer needs and expectations and knowledge for improvement to exceed customer expectations; principles of change management. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred : Board certification in area of practice. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Demand Code: 3A, Administration Work Function/Activity : Sedentary to Light Physical Demand The job requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
