POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Technical Engineer plays a critical role in all engineering-related activities to support the growth of the Busbar global line of business. The incumbent will provide technical expertise to the project team while supporting the Busbar engineering team whilst being responsible for leading complex engineering activities, ensuring compliance with type-tested designs and UL standards, and driving technical consistency across global projects and manufacturing plants. The role provides advanced technical leadership, serves as an escalation point for complex issues, and plays a key role in standardization, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of Vertiv's busbar product range and strong collaboration across Vertiv’s estimation, sales, offering, engineering, and project delivery teams to leverage common designs and type-tested products.
This opportunity is for someone who wants to work within a technically driven team with minimal functional management and continue to build on the reputation we have created around the world. The role requires strong collaboration across Vertiv’s busbar line of Business to leverage common standards and design tools.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the sales and project teams to understand customer requirements and provide technical solutions in line with current type-tested product offerings.
Lead and approve technical drawing Submissions from the mechanical engineering team prior to issuing them to the customer and releasing them to production.
Lead in the development and release of standardized engineering documentation such as drawings and BOMs.
Drive cross-plant problem-solving teams to improve project and engineering performances.
Own the preparation of the design drawings and documentation in line with the specification requirements for the Busbar package for different plants to provide to the Project Delivery team
Establish procedures and provide direct support for plant-to-plant product transfers and new product development programs.
Own technical decisions and act as the final reviewer/approver in case before full production release.
Act as the technical escalation point across projects and plants for complex and non-standard technical issues.
Lead technical evaluation of custom, first-of-a-kind projects whilst working closely with the customer and NPDI team to ensure requirements are met through UL certification
Balance technical compliance with cost, manufacturability and schedule. Must be able to influence design decisions to reduce project risk and rework
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers with a focus on maintaining engineering best practices whilst driving standardization & design reuse.
Supporting global projects with multi-code requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Technical Knowledge & Skills
Working knowledge of busway systems or similar power distribution products (preferred).
Proficiency with standard PC applications, including MS Office, CAD tools, and exposure to PDM and ERP systems.
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and apply mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
Experience using BIM and 3D modeling tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Revit) is an advantage.

Demonstrated ability to perform engineering work involving analysis, design, and evaluation based on drawings, specifications, proposals, and technical requirements.
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
Ability to review, interpret, and analyze engineering data, documents, and reports to support sound technical decisions.
Proven capability to develop design models, shop drawings, and Bills of Material using established tools and processes.
Project Execution & Ownership
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver assigned milestones with minimal supervision.
Experience coordinating technical activities with sales, project management, manufacturing, and customers.
Ownership of preparing clear and complete design instructions for mechanical designers and electrical drafters.
Willingness to actively support production and field teams by resolving technical issues on the shop floor or at site.
Communication & Collaboration
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
Experience preparing responses to customer technical comments and submittals in coordination with project teams.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree (4-year degree) in Electrical Engineering or other engineering-related field (Minimum)
Graduate in Electrical engineering or equivalent (preferred)
Experience
Requires 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years in electrical power distribution systems such as low-voltage switchgear, busway, or equivalent systems
Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead on complex engineering projects, including ownership of design decisions and technical risk resolution
Prior experience coordinating technical deliverables across cross-functional teams (engineering, sales, manufacturing, project management)
Experience supporting multi‑site or global engineering teams preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong working knowledge of applicable UL codes, standards, and compliance requirements preferred.
Hands-on experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering design tools (Solidworks preferred).
Ability to identify technical risks and proactively propose mitigation strategies or alternative solutions.
Proven ability to evaluate designs for compliance with type‑tested or standardized product configurations (preferred)
Project & Execution Skills
2-4 years of project coordination or technical project leadership experience is strongly preferred.
Experience managing technical scope, schedules, and customer commitments within a project environment.
