Help create safe, inclusive, and positive experiences for every child. Essex Junction Recreation & Parks is seeking a Behavior Support Coordinator to support children, staff, and families across our licensed afterschool, vacation, summer camp, and preschool programs. Our programs provide a safe, fun, and supportive environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively. This role is essential to ensuring all children, including those with diverse needs, can fully participate and thrive. About the Role The Behavior Support Coordinator provides direct support, coaching, and intervention related to child behavior across multiple program sites. This position works closely with staff, families, and school teams to promote positive behavior, develop strategies, and ensure programs remain inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and responsive to children’s needs. Pay/Wages The pay rate is between  $22.90 to $ 27.89   based on experience . Benefits(this is not a comprehensive list of benefits) 3 weeks paid vacation to start. 14 paid holidays 18 sick days per year Retirement benefits include a pension plan (VMERS C) or deferred compensation plan (VMERS DC) , and the ability to contribute to a 457, Traditional IRA or ROTH Generous health insurance benefit in which the City pays 94% of the premium for medical and the first 80% of the deductible. After that, you are only responsible for the next 20%, which is not more than $600 for single plans and no more than $1200 for all other plans for covered medical expenses. 100% employer paid for dental and vision 100% employer paid short-term disability and life insurance Qualified Employer for Public Service Student Loan Forgiveness Program Key Responsibilities Behavior Support & Coordination Serve as a resource for staff on child behavior and social-emotional support Evaluate and support children who need additional assistance participating in programs Develop individualized behavior support plans Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with families, schools, and professionals as appropriate Program Support (Afterschool, Camps, Preschool) Build positive, supportive relationships with children, families, staff, and school partners Implement behavior observation, tracking, and support systems Review IEPs, 504 plans, and other support plans and adapt them for program settings Provide on-site and on-call support during program hours, including responding to challenging behaviors and crises Conduct regular site visits to support consistent approaches across programs Communicate regularly with staff and families regarding behavior strategies and progress Attend meetings with school teams and support collaboration Help families access additional resources when needed Training & Staff Development Provide training and coaching to staff on positive behavior strategies and proactive approaches Support staff in building inclusive, engaging, and supportive environments for youth Administration, Grants & Operations Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to behavior support Assist with identifying and pursuing grant opportunities to support program needs Provide data and input to support funding requests and budgeting for behavioral supports Team & Community Engagement Supervise and support behavior support staff as needed Participate in community events and professional development opportunities Assist program leadership and fill in at sites when needed Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field At least 3 years of relevant experience working with youth programs or behavior support Strong understanding of child development, behavior strategies, and social-emotional support Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or advanced experience in behavior intervention or student support Experience in afterschool, summer camp, or recreation-based programs Additional Requirements First Aid/CPR and crisis intervention certification (or ability to obtain) Eligible for Northern Lights Instructor certification Valid Vermont driver’s license and reliable transportation Why Join EJRP?
