Position Summary
The clinical lecturer position is a 10-month faculty position that includes teaching 24 credits each academic year (fall and spring semesters) and service to the Education department and the university. Teaching assignments will be based on departmental needs as well as the expertise of the candidate. In addition to the responsibilities noted above, the position includes Graduate Coordinator responsibilities including playing a critical role in advancing student success, program coherence, and operational excellence within the graduate education program. Serving as a central point of coordination for students, faculty, and institutional partners, the Coordinator oversees graduate student advising, progress monitoring, and success tracking from admission through program completion. This position combines high-touch student support with data-informed program management to ensure strong retention, timely degree completion, and positive post-graduation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Service Responsibilities
Full load includes 24 credits per academic year (fall and spring). Course remissions and a summer stipend will be provided for graduate coordinator responsibilities.
Serve on university committees as well as provide service to the department
Graduate Student Advising & Support
Serve as the primary advising contact for graduate students, including 4+1 students, providing guidance on program requirements, certification requirement completion (i.e. acceptable grades, fingerprinting), course sequencing, milestones, and institutional policies.
Proactively support students through key transition points, including onboarding, candidacy, and graduation.
Identify and respond to academic or administrative challenges, connecting students with appropriate faculty and/or EDU leadership, or campus resources as needed.
Communicate regularly with students through targeted outreach, workshops, and advising communications to promote engagement and persistence.
Program Coordination & Operations
As part of program onboarding, coordinate enrollment, registration, and matriculation processes.
Support admissions and onboarding processes, including applicant communications and orientation programming.
Maintain accurate program documentation, advising materials, and student-facing resources.
Serve as a liaison between the graduate program and central offices such as Registrar and Graduate Admissions.
Oversee implementation of university and department policies, including conditional admittance, pre-requisite completion, etc.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work closely with department leadership to identify opportunities to improve student experience and outcomes.
Contribute to initiatives focused on retention, inclusive advising practices, and program quality.
Participate in strategic planning efforts related to graduate education and student success.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Doctorate degree in education or a related field required.
Teacher certification in New York State, with preference for special education, math, and/or literacy.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Demonstrated ability to work with student data and academic information systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to student-centered and equity-minded practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in higher education administration, graduate advising, or student support services.
Familiarity with accreditation, assessment, or outcomes-based accountability frameworks.
Proficiency with student information systems, CRM platforms, or advising software.
