    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>The College of Nursing invites applications for adjunct faculty in the Department of Undergraduate Programs to provide <strong>evening and weekend</strong> instruction and supervision in clinical settings for Spring and Summer 2026.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>The adjunct faculty member will facilitate student learning in alignment with course objectives, emphasizing safe, evidence-based nursing practice. The role is primarily clinical, with opportunities to teach across a variety of healthcare environments. Clinical assignment opportunities are available in multiple program tracks, including evenings and weekends. Adjunct faculty must have an on-site presence and are required to engage in classroom, lab, simulation, and clinical-based teaching, supporting the development of future nursing professionals.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Adjunct faculty will join a dynamic group of nursing educators with a strong commitment to student success through innovative evidence-based teaching strategies, interprofessional collaboration, and fostering an environment where every student feels valued and supported.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>This role requires regular, in-person attendance at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Candidates must be able to travel to clinical sites as assigned.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong><u>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Knowledge of computer/audiovisual software and technology, including learning management systems and supplemental instructional platforms.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Knowledge of evidence-based nursing education practices.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of nursing accreditation standards.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of current healthcare practices including current technologies.</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a wide range of faculty, staff, students, and clinical partners.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ability to effectively engage and motivate students.</li>\n <li>Ability to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.</li>\n <li>Ability to engage in clinical teaching as per workload assignment.</li>\n <li>Ability to travel to clinical agencies based on workload assignment.</li>\n <li>Ability to travel to other campus sites for teaching as per workload negotiation.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Required Qualifications</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master’s degree in nursing or relevant field (e.g., MPH, MBA); applicants with a BSN and significant clinical experience may be considered with enrollment in a graduate program or other qualifications (e.g., national certification).&nbsp; &nbsp;</li>\n <li>If graduate degree is not in nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.</li>\n <li>Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Minimum of two (2) years of relevant clinical experience in nursing.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Preferred Qualifications</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master’s degree in Nursing.</li>\n <li>Previous teaching experience in higher education.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Physical Demands</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Engage in physical activities that may involve prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, pulling/pushing, climbing, and assisting students in a variety of clinical, laboratory, and simulation environments for up to 12 hours per day.</li>\n <li>Provide clinical instruction in healthcare settings of up to 2 – 3 clinical courses per semester, with each clinical lasting up to twelve hours per day.</li>\n <li>Occasionally lift and carry clinical teaching materials and equipment of up to 75 pounds.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Demonstrate and model clinical procedures and techniques, which may require physical dexterity and stamina including, but not limited to, repetitive motions of wrists, fingers, and hands.&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Accurately communicate information related to student performance to students and other faculty members as indicated.&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Compensation &amp; Benefits</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Compensation commensurate with experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Application Instructions</u></strong></p>\n<p>Exempt positions are required to be posted for a minimum of fourteen (14) calendar days.&nbsp;<br/><br/>The closing date for this posting is subject to change without notice to applicants.<br/><br/>All positions at East Tennessee State University are contingent upon sufficient funding.<br/><br/>Review of applicants begins immediately and continues until positions are filled.<br/><br/>An official transcript will be required upon hire.
