Role Purpose The Lecturer (Maths and Academic Skills) plays a key role in supporting student success, continuation, progression and attainment through the design and delivery of inclusive quantitative skills provision across the student lifecycle. The postholder will develop and deliver timetabled provision across a range of modules in mathematics, numeracy, statistics, quantitative reasoning, data literacy and academic skills for students across a range of disciplines and levels of study. The role combines teaching, curriculum development and student support responsibilities. The postholder will work collaboratively with Schools and programme teams to integrate quantitative and research skills within programmes, while also providing individual academic support. The role contributes directly to institutional priorities relating to student continuation, progression, attainment, employability and inclusive learning. Key Responsibilities: Teaching, Learning & Student Support: The post holder will Design and deliver engaging, inclusive and accessible sessions each week, including lectures, seminars, tutorials in line in line with the approved programme. Maintain attendance registers for teaching sessions and work with the attendance team to ensure the accuracy of the information being entered for students on digital registers. Work in line with Regent Digital provisions including VLEs and MS Teams. Ensure that students are engaging in their sessions. Update class notes and other materials and ensure that the VLE is regularly updated. Identify the need for developing the content or structure of modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved. Make suggestions through appropriate channels how to improve student academic experience. Assess the effectiveness of Maths & Numeracy skills support against students’ needs and progress. Carry out any other responsibilities as reasonably required by senior management (e.g. accurate attendance records, progress reports, monitoring reports, schemes of work, etc.). Student Support The post holder will Ensure any issues of student engagement or performance are addressed, signposting students to specialist College services as necessary. Field any pastoral requirements students may have, signposting them to relevant specialist College services as necessary. Provide 1-1 guidance and small-group tutorials for students requiring additional support in maths, numeracy, statistics, Excel, SPSS and related quantitative skills online or on-campus. Support students undertaking research projects and dissertations involving quantitative analysis and data interpretation. Support students in developing confidence in quantitative reasoning, problem solving and analytical thinking. Liaise with academics and other members of staff, where necessary, to ensure students receive appropriate on-going maths/numeracy and academic skills support. Quality assurance The post holder will Act as Module Leader in their area of expertise, as required, developing curricula and teaching materials for modules. Provide a module evaluation report at the end of each module. Engage with Programme Committee meetings, contributing towards continuous improvement of the students’ learning experiences and the identification of good practice which other programmes and Schools might usefully draw on. Engage with other parts of the College’s quality assurance and academic governance frameworks, as opportunities arise. Reflect on the outcomes of student module feedback questionnaires, identifying areas for improvement as well as good practice which colleagues might usefully draw on. Contribute to Programme evaluations, accreditation and quality control processes, as required. Scholarship The post holder will Engage in scholarship as required to support teaching activities and continually update knowledge. Extend, transform and apply knowledge applied from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities including knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities. Develop ideas and find ways of disseminating and applying the result of scholarship. Assessment and Marking The post holder will Set assessments for students and ensure there is a 90+% submissions of assessments for all modules on time.   Support the production of assessments for module/unit and ensure these are approved in accordance with the relevant procedures.   Participate in standardisation and moderation meetings as required.   Provide students with formative feedback as appropriate   Mark summative assessments according to the approved assessment brief and provide timely and constructive feedback to students within the deadlines published by the Assessment Team.   Identify cases of possible academic misconduct and escalate these according to the relevant procedure of assessment boards.   Managing work and resources The post holder will As module leader (if allocated), co-ordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and expectations are met. Co-ordinate with academic teams to ensure student needs and expectations are met. Manage projects relating to own area of work and the organisation of extra-curricular activities. Mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development. Exercise responsibility for the design and delivery of own modules and assessment methods considering established or agreed practice where necessary. Collaborate with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures, as required. Tackle issues affecting the quality of delivery within scope of own level of responsibility, referring more serious matters to others, as appropriate. Support the student recruitment and marketing teams as appropriate (e.g. academic interviews). Our proven track record of success is a testament to our unwavering commitment to student achievement, personal development, and future readiness. </p><p>Role Purpose </p><p>The Lecturer (Maths and Academic Skills) plays a key role in supporting student success, continuation, progression and attainment through the design and delivery of inclusive quantitative skills provision across the student lifecycle. The postholder will develop and deliver timetabled provision across a range of modules in mathematics, numeracy, statistics, quantitative reasoning, data literacy and academic skills for students across a range of disciplines and levels of study. </p><p>The role combines teaching, curriculum development and student support responsibilities. The postholder will work collaboratively with Schools and programme teams to integrate quantitative and research skills within programmes, while also providing individual academic support. </p><p>The role contributes directly to institutional priorities relating to student continuation, progression, attainment, employability and inclusive learning. </p><p>Key Responsibilities: </p><p>Teaching, Learning & Student Support: </p><p>The post holder will  </p><ul><li><p>Design and deliver engaging, inclusive and accessible sessions each week, including lectures, seminars, tutorials in line in line with the approved programme. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Maintain attendance registers for teaching sessions and work with the attendance team to ensure the accuracy of the information being entered for students on digital registers.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Work in line with Regent Digital provisions including VLEs and MS Teams.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Ensure that students are engaging in their sessions.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Update class notes and other materials and ensure that the VLE is regularly updated.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Identify the need for developing the content or structure of modules with colleagues and make proposals on how this should be achieved. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Make suggestions through appropriate channels how to improve student academic experience. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Assess the effectiveness of Maths & Numeracy skills support against students’ needs and progress. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Carry out any other responsibilities as reasonably required by senior management (e.g. accurate attendance records, progress reports, monitoring reports, schemes of work, etc.). </p></li></ul><p>Student Support </p><p>The post holder will  </p><ul><li><p>Ensure any issues of student engagement or performance are addressed, signposting students to specialist College services as necessary.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Field any pastoral requirements students may have, signposting them to relevant specialist College services as necessary.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Provide 1-1 guidance and small-group tutorials for students requiring additional support in maths, numeracy, statistics, Excel, SPSS and related quantitative skills online or on-campus. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Support students undertaking research projects and dissertations involving quantitative analysis and data interpretation. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Support students in developing confidence in quantitative reasoning, problem solving and analytical thinking. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Liaise with academics and other members of staff, where necessary, to ensure students receive appropriate on-going maths/numeracy and academic skills support. </p></li></ul><p>Quality assurance  </p><p>The post holder will  </p><ul><li><p>Act as Module Leader in their area of expertise, as required, developing curricula and teaching materials for modules.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Provide a module evaluation report at the end of each module.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Engage with Programme Committee meetings, contributing towards continuous improvement of the students’ learning experiences and the identification of good practice which other programmes and Schools might usefully draw on.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Engage with other parts of the College’s quality assurance and academic governance frameworks, as opportunities arise.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Reflect on the outcomes of student module feedback questionnaires, identifying areas for improvement as well as good practice which colleagues might usefully draw on.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Contribute to Programme evaluations, accreditation and quality control processes, as required.  </p></li></ul><p>Scholarship  </p><p>The post holder will  </p><ul><li><p>Engage in scholarship as required to support teaching activities and continually update knowledge.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Extend, transform and apply knowledge applied from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities including knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Develop ideas and find ways of disseminating and applying the result of scholarship.  </p></li></ul><p>Assessment and Marking  </p><p>The post holder will  </p><ul><li>Set assessments for students and ensure there is a 90+% submissions of assessments for all modules on time.  </li><li>Support the production of assessments for module/unit and ensure these are approved in accordance with the relevant procedures.  </li><li>Participate in standardisation and moderation meetings as required.  </li><li>Provide students with formative feedback as appropriate  </li><li>Mark summative assessments according to the approved assessment brief and provide timely and constructive feedback to students within the deadlines published by the Assessment Team.  </li><li>Identify cases of possible academic misconduct and escalate these according to the relevant procedure of assessment boards.  </li></ul><p>Managing work and resources  </p><p>The post holder will  </p><ul><li><p>As module leader (if allocated), co-ordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and expectations are met. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Co-ordinate with academic teams to ensure student needs and expectations are met.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Manage projects relating to own area of work and the organisation of extra-curricular activities.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Exercise responsibility for the design and delivery of own modules and assessment methods considering established or agreed practice where necessary.  </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Collaborate with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures, as required. </p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Tackle issues affecting the quality of delivery within scope of own level of responsibility, referring more serious matters to others,
