Northwest Mississippi Community College seeks a full-time, 10-month lead instructor for the Cybersecurity Technology program on the Oxford Campus. The instructor will deliver modern, industry-relevant instruction, maintain a professional learning environment, and help sustain the program’s strong reputation for high-quality training and producing well-prepared graduates who are in demand for employment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience within the last five (5) years in:
Networking
Hardware
Software
Security
· Ability to demonstrate successful experience in cyber and network security, including:
Planning secure IT infrastructure
Designing secure IT systems
Installing secure IT systems
Maintaining secure IT systems
Troubleshooting secure IT infrastructure
· Proficiency in:
Network communication
Network security
· Willingness to obtain required certification(s)
· Demonstrated:
Professional demeanor
Positive contributions to a team
Commitment to continuous improvement
· Associate of Applied Science degree in:
Cybersecurity Technology
Or a directly related information technology field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree or higher in an information technology field
· Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in:
Networking
Hardware
Software
Security
· Familiarity with teaching networking and security at the college level
· Experience working with distance learning platforms
· Certified in:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure all requirements of college and industry partners are met
Maintain professionalism with students, coworkers, and community members
Provide engaging, high-quality instruction in modern cybersecurity technology using a variety of teaching methods aligned with career preparation
Prepare lesson plans, job sheets, and laboratory demonstrations for all instructional units
Recommend curriculum updates to maintain a current and relevant program
Monitor student progress, including internship participants
Collaborate with instructors and support staff as a team
Continuously improve teaching methods and cybersecurity technical skills
Maintain compliance with all professional licensing requirements
Deliver instruction aligned with syllabus and catalog expectations and employer needs
Prepare and grade assessments based on course objectives, and maintain timely return of assignments
Implement outcomes assessment and maintain institutional standards for student satisfaction
Promote student engagement, creativity, and retention
Begin and end classes on time, ensuring full instructional periods
Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and reporting records per policy
Submit required reports to NWCC, the Mississippi Community College Board, and other partners
Attend faculty meetings, in-service sessions, and required college events
Participate in campus and community extracurricular activities with Cybersecurity Technology students
Supervise all laboratory activities
Maintain a clean and safe lab environment
Maintain proper inventory of program equipment and tools
Maintain an active advisory committee that meets at least twice per year
Visit industry partners to maintain employer relationships and monitor student internships
Provide student advising and counseling support
Assist students with employment placement in related career fields
Serve on faculty committees
Support the overall mission of the college through additional assigned duties
Participate in required training and professional development activities
Perform all duties as assigned by the Associate VP for Workforce Solutions & Career Tech Education

While performing the duties of this job, the instructor is regularly required to do the following:
