Description Hope House, a Preble Street low-barrier shelter located in Bangor, Maine, provides shelter and intensive services to individuals experiencing homelessness in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work best practices. The Hope House Shelter Navigator is responsible for maintaining the safety of Hope House residents and for skills building activities, daily living skills support, crisis intervention, and coverage activities during shifts. This position ensures the collection, documentation and reporting of information and data as required; and works as a member of the Hope House team to support and achieve outcomes aligned with program goals and the agency mission. Population Served: Individuals who are experiencing homelessness. Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 2:00pm -10:30pm Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field of study and experience in direct service provision to people experiencing homelessness, or comparable combination of education and relevant experience. Understanding of the Preble Street mission, harm reduction, and social and economic justice including the role of policy advocacy throughout all programs and positions. Understanding and positive regard for individuals experiencing homelessness and/or living in poverty. Familiarity with relevant community resources. Understanding of low-barrier services and related challenge s Compensation and Benefits The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $23.12 per hour. As a direct service position in a 24/7 program, this position is eligible for shift differentials of $1.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm or $2.00 per hour for all hours actually worked between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am. Generous paid time off, insurance, and retirement plan benefits include: 160 hours (4 weeks, accrued) vacation time, 96 hours (12 days, accrued) sick time, 32 hours personal time, 12 Paid Holidays Health insurance w/ 100% employer-paid option; Dental insurance w/ 100% employer-paid option; Vision insurance; Employer-paid life and disability insurance 403(b) retirement plan w/ employer match To Apply: We encourage applicants to apply via Preble Street’s website employment page.
