School Behavior Support Worker
Retention Bonus - $1,500
Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends
As a School Behavior Support Worker, you will help design and implement behavior support for students. You will report to the Dean of Students and will work onsite.
Responsibilities: • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and adults.
• Work with students who demonstrate serious mental and emotional health issues and also exhibit antisocial and explosive behaviors.
• Intervene to assist classroom staff in managing student behavior and providing support when students require behavioral interventions.
• Provide immediate one-on-one support to students who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem and impaired social skills.
• Participate in and foster the schoolwide PBIS program by modeling positive behaviors and interactions with students, and student expectations throughout the school.
• Work with school staff to implement PBIS Tier II and Tier III interventions for students.
• Understand and be able to implement Crisis support plans.
• Demonstrate deescalating skills in assisting students who are losing or have lost control and need adult support to regain self-regulation.
• Work with school, clinical staff, and family members to develop and implement FBA's and BIP's, and other support plans for individual students.
• Participate in team, classroom or other staff meetings using collaboration and conflict resolution strategies.
• Supervise students in multiple student activities including classrooms, arrival and dismissal, cafeteria, hallways, bus loading and unloading, field trips, and other areas where students gather.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality of student information following agency, state and federal regulations.
• Complete and return all forms, reports, and other required reporting documentation promptly.
• Participate in ongoing professional development required by the Agency, New York State, and federal regulators.
• Consult with classroom staff to use and implement classroom management techniques to maintain a safe productive learning environment.
Requirements and Education: • High School Degree or GED with at least three years of experience required
• TCI certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• A valid NYS driver's license is required.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds.
