Provides age appropriate patient care. </p>\n<p> <strong>Full-Time Overnights.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>To review Memorial's Benefits click here: Benefits - Memorial HR</strong></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Licensure/Certification/Registry:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Current LPN license in the State of Illinois required.</li>\n <li>Healthcare Provider or Instructor BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provides direct care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Physician.</li>\n <li>Assists in executing physician orders as directed.</li>\n <li>Documents care given in computerized medical record according to policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Evaluates patient progress toward attainment of goals, revising plan of care when indicated.</li>\n <li>Builds teamwork while delivering care to patients.</li>\n <li>Maintains open, effective communication with other members of the patient care team re: patient status and all aspects of care.</li>\n <li>Documents patient care according to policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Assists in assuring all equipment and supplies are present in adequate volumes and working order.</li>\n <li>Precepts new nursing employees and/or nursing students.</li>\n <li>Identifies & resolves safety risks.</li>\n <li>Participates in continuous quality improvement, periodic review of policies, procedures and pre-printed physicians orders.</li>\n <li>Assists in identifying and resolving patient care problems or process related issues on the unit and between departments.</li>\n <li>Assists with educational activities for other staff on the nursing unit.</li>\n <li>Performs other related work as required or requested.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Tasks which may be delegated to LPNs:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Peripheral IV start, dressing change, normal saline flush & D/C.</li>\n <li>IV pump set up.</li>\n <li>Hanging IV fluids without medications or additives.</li>\n <li>Administration of PO, IM, SubQ, Intradermal, Rectal, Sublingual medications according to policies & procedures.</li>\n <li>Administration of IV piggyback antibiotics via peripheral IV sites according to policies & procedures.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Tasks which may <u>not</u> be delegated to LPNs:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Dictated physician orders.</li>\n <li>Blood administration.</li>\n <li>Central line flush, med administration or removal.</li>\n <li>Administration of drugs during a code situation.</li>\n <li>Administration of IV medications other than piggyback antibiotics (push medications, chemotherapy, titrated drips).</li>\n <li>Blood draws from arterial or central lines.</li>\n</ul>",
