Description

General Investigator Section (GIS) constables are members of a specialized uniform team that conducts detailed risk-based and evidence focused investigations. Secondarily, GIS constables may be deployed to assist at emergencies, crime scenes and demonstrations/protests to bolster the organization’s response to in-progress incidents. GIS constables are proven investigators with a desire to mentor others or developing officers who have demonstrated investigation skills and a proven desire of working toward a position in the Investigative Services Division. Job Description: Primarily a uniform position, but may include some plain clothes work Working rotational 11.43 hour shifts which follow a (4-5-5) shifting model. Start times no earlier than 5:30 am and no later than 7:30 am Complete detailed investigations and effectively manage the safety of witnesses and victims Fill primary investigator / file coordinator roles when managing MCM files Prepare judicial authorizations and develop expertise in this area Plan and conduct victim / witness / warned interviews and develop expertise in this area Work collaboratively with VicPD teams to address operational priorities Effectively communicate with individuals and groups, work collaboratively with partner agencies Preferred Qualifications: Must be a motivated self-starter and demonstrate strong team-work skills Possess demonstrated interview and affiant skills Ability to solve complex problems and conduct detailed investigations Demonstrated ability working with community groups and partner agencies Ability to multi-task and work effectively under compressed timelines Court experienced and possess strong exhibit management skills Demonstrated interest investigating persons offences, financial crimes, serial property crimes and incidents of domestic violence.
