    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<div>\n <p>WAGE: $21.88</p>\n <p>DEPARTMENT: Animal Control</p>\n <p>PERSONNEL STATUS: Full Time</p>\n <p>BENEFITS: Health, Dental, Vision, Retirement, 401k match, Sick/Vacation, Life Insurance, Short-term Disability, Accident, Critical Illness; Parental Leave; Maternity Leave</p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong><u>JOB OVERVIEW:</u></strong></p>\n <p>Under general supervision of the Director, investigates complaints regarding animals.</p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong><u>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</u></strong></p>\n <p>Collects and disposes of animals. Collects fees and issues dog licenses. Issues citations for animal control violations and appears in court as a witness to assist in the prosecution of violators.</p>\n <p>Captures stray and dangerous animals in the unincorporated part of Weber County and in cities and towns who contract for services with Weber County.</p>\n <p>Quarantines animals that have caused injuries. Handles animals who are suspected of carrying rabies or other diseases as described by law.</p>\n <p>Receives complaints by phone and in person about stray and dangerous animals. Mediates disputes between neighbors. Investigates complaints and determines proper action necessary for resolution.</p>\n <p>Provides individuals and cities with information pertaining to laws and ordinances governing the keeping of animals in Weber County.</p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><i>Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class. Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.</i></p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong><u>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</u></strong></p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\">None.</p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong><u>EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:</u></strong></p>\n <p>Education: High school graduation or equivalent.</p>\n <p>Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience related to animal care, animal control, wildlife services or other related experience.</p>\n <p>Any equivalent combination of education and experience.</p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong><u>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):</u></strong></p>\n <p>Knowledge of: Knowledge in methods of handling and transporting large and small animals. Knowledge of safety precautions in capturing, housing, and disposing of animals. Working knowledge of county ordinances regarding animals. Knowledge of effective communication.</p>\n <p>Skills and Abilities to: Skilled in public relations and sound decision making in stressful situations. Ability to capture, house, and dispose of stray and dangerous animals without endangering the public. Ability to perform routine clerical duties necessary to complete reports and issue dog licenses. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to establish good working relations with employees, the public, and other agencies.</p>\n <p><strong><u>YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS</u></strong><u>:</u></p>\n <p>Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License.</p>\n <p>Must attend required certification courses and maintain required yearly training hours as outlined by the department.</p>\n <p>Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.</p>\n <p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong><u>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</u></strong></p>\n <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
