    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Sr. Planner ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Safety Leadership:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Take personal responsibility for your own safety through hazard identification and mitigation.</li>\n <li>Ensure practices/processes are safely executed.  </li>\n <li>Communicate safety concerns and model safe behaviors. <strong> </strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Project Execution:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Update and maintain ship, availability and alteration specific data in the Planning Yard Hull</li>\n <li>Interface directly with various Planning Yard and Navy information systems to electronically</li>\n <li>Provide Project Management (PM) products and services for various projects as assigned.</li>\n <li>Develop weekly/monthly/quarterly metrics as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Training & Development:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in annual Port Engineer Training events at CROF.</li>\n <li>Assist other PY functional groups with navigation, training or other HMS related ship, availability and alteration data related questions.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Team Collaboration and Communication:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work directly with various Navy activities to support the maintenance of HMS data and development of availability analysis products.</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with various internal and external</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Utilize the A3 methodology and BIW’s BOS to continually improve quality and results.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Education/Training</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Minimum of Associate Degree in Business or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. </li>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering/technical discipline preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Required/Preferred Experience</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>5 years of experience in Shipbuilding or related industry <strong>required.</strong> </li>\n <li>Detailed understanding of DDG 51 Planning Yard processes, procedures, and products.</li>\n <li>Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated strong computer skills, ability to develop relational databases to collate information used in maintenance of PY HMS data and development of analysis reports and planning products.</li>\n <li>Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated working knowledge of HMS and the PY SSSC Web Site.</li>\n <li>Experience with Navy Ship Overhauls or Post Shakedown Availabilities a plus. </li>\n</ul>",
