Role Highlights: Be hands-on in patient care by assisting with exams, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring a clean, well-stocked environment. Impactful Work: Play a key role in patient health by administering injections, drawing blood, and helping with diagnostic tests. Key Responsibilities Interview patients to collect medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height. Record medical history, vital statistics, and test results accurately in electronic medical records. Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for laboratory testing. Assist physicians during patient examinations, ensuring all instruments and materials are readily available. Prepare and maintain treatment rooms by ensuring cleanliness and restocking supplies. Clean and sterilize instruments, and manage contaminated supplies following safety protocols. Conduct phone consultations with patients regarding test results and health concerns. Process specimens with proper labeling and prepare them for lab pickups. Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests as required. Administer medications, including oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical, as ordered by the provider. Ensure proper documentation of all patient care activities. Stock exam rooms with necessary supplies, check for expired items, and manage waste appropriately. Participate in OSHA compliance programs and contribute to performance improvement initiatives. Foster a respectful and courteous environment for patients and staff alike. Collaborate within a primary care medical home model to deliver comprehensive care. Attend safety training programs and adhere to established safety protocols. Maintain work areas and equipment in compliance with Legacy and governmental standards. Report any safety concerns promptly and follow exposure control plans as required. Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment to ensure a safe work environment. Participate in annual education programs and take on other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required BLS/CPR Certification required Up to one year experience Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Basic front desk, clerical or healthcare support specialist skills/experience Ability to work with clinical staff, works well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care and team approach to health care delivery Experience working with computers Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Phlebotomy skills preferred Experience with electronic medical records, preferred. As a Medical Assistant, you’ll be an essential part of our team, helping to create meaningful connections with patients while supporting our providers in delivering exceptional care.</p><ul><li><strong>Role Highlights:</strong> Be hands-on in patient care by assisting with exams, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring a clean, well-stocked environment.</li><li><strong>Impactful Work:</strong> Play a key role in patient health by administering injections, drawing blood, and helping with diagnostic tests.</li><li><strong>Community Focus:</strong> Work in a mission-driven environment that prioritizes relationships, collaboration, and community impact.</li><li><strong>Growth Opportunities:</strong> Unlock mentorship and professional development opportunities to grow your career in healthcare.</li><li><strong>Team Dynamics:</strong> Join a supportive, close-knit team where your contributions are recognized and celebrated.</li></ul><h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2><ul><li>Interview patients to collect medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.</li><li>Record medical history, vital statistics, and test results accurately in electronic medical records.</li><li>Collect and prepare blood, tissue, or other specimens for laboratory testing.</li><li>Assist physicians during patient examinations, ensuring all instruments and materials are readily available.</li><li>Prepare and maintain treatment rooms by ensuring cleanliness and restocking supplies.</li><li>Clean and sterilize instruments, and manage contaminated supplies following safety protocols.</li><li>Conduct phone consultations with patients regarding test results and health concerns.</li><li>Process specimens with proper labeling and prepare them for lab pickups.</li><li>Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic tests as required.</li><li>Administer medications, including oral, intramuscular, SubQ, and topical, as ordered by the provider.</li><li>Ensure proper documentation of all patient care activities.</li><li>Stock exam rooms with necessary supplies, check for expired items, and manage waste appropriately.</li><li>Participate in OSHA compliance programs and contribute to performance improvement initiatives.</li><li>Foster a respectful and courteous environment for patients and staff alike.</li><li>Collaborate within a primary care medical home model to deliver comprehensive care.</li><li>Attend safety training programs and adhere to established safety protocols.</li><li>Maintain work areas and equipment in compliance with Legacy and governmental standards.</li><li>Report any safety concerns promptly and follow exposure control plans as required.</li><li>Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment to ensure a safe work environment.</li><li>Participate in annual education programs and take on other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h2><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li><li>BLS/CPR Certification required</li><li>Up to one year experience</li><li>Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.</li><li>Basic front desk, clerical or healthcare support specialist skills/experience</li><li>Ability to work with clinical staff, works well under pressure, and multitask within a multidisciplinary team</li><li>Commitment to the concepts of preventive health care and team approach to health care delivery</li><li>Experience working with computers</li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office applications.</li><li>Bilingual English/Spanish required. </li><li>Phlebotomy skills preferred</li><li>Experience with electronic medical records, preferred.</li></ul><h2><strong>About Legacy Community Health</strong></h2>As the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Southeast Texas, Legacy Community Health has been delivering comprehensive, high-quality, and affordable health care for nearly 40 years.
