    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>Athletic Coaching Positions (Head Coach &amp; Assistant Coach)</strong></p><p><strong>Charles County Public Schools</strong><br><strong>Employment Type:</strong> Temporary, 12-Month • <strong>FLSA Status:</strong> Non-Exempt • <strong>Compensation:</strong> Stipend</p><hr><p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is seeking qualified Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches to support education-based athletics. Coaches will promote skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character, while ensuring the safety and supervision of student-athletes.</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Head Coaches lead and manage all levels of the program (varsity, junior varsity, and freshman).</li><li>Assistant Coaches support the head coach with instruction, supervision, and program operations.</li></ul><hr><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><p>Candidates must meet one of the following:</p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Certified teachers or professional educators employed by a local Board of Education; OR</li><li>Individuals certified by MSDE under COMAR 13A.12.01; OR</li><li>Credentialed coaches who:<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\"><li>Are eligible for a Maryland certificate under COMAR 13A.12.01</li><li>Hold MPSSAA/MSDE Coaching Certification</li><li>Have two years of successful emergency coaching experience</li><li>Have one year of successful emergency coaching experience at the hiring school in the position applied for</li></ul></li></ul><hr><p><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>Head Coach</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Submit all required coaching certifications to the athletic director.</li><li>Complete CCPS/MPSSAA forms (eligibility rosters, reports, etc.).</li><li>Ensure only cleared athletes participate in tryouts and receive equipment.</li><li>Conduct mandatory pre-season meetings for athletes and families.</li><li>Manage the entire program: varsity, JV, and freshman.</li><li>Supervise, assign, and evaluate assistant and sub-varsity coaches.</li><li>Review Superintendent Rule 1111 with coaching staff.</li><li>Oversee equipment issuance, inventory, repairs, and collection of lost-item fees.</li><li>Maintain lists of athletic awards, honors, and team records.</li><li>Submit equipment needs and annual budget requests.</li><li>Attend required clinics, meetings, and training.</li></ul><p><strong>Assistant Coach</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Support and report directly to the head coach.</li><li>Serve as a positive role model promoting sportsmanship and character.</li><li>Assist with pre-season meetings and program communication.</li><li>Arrive early for practices; secure facilities before and after activities.</li><li>Teach fundamentals and supervise athletes at all times.</li><li>Assist with scouting and attending varsity contests as required.</li><li>Help manage equipment distribution, collection, and inventory.</li><li>Assist with award lists, recognition, and annual budget preparation.</li><li>Maintain cleanliness of coaching and team spaces.</li></ul><hr><p><strong>Environmental Factors &amp; Physical Requirements</strong></p><p>The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm,&nbsp;hand&nbsp;and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
