As one of the largest skin laser centers in the world, BSI has several dozen lasers, and many other non-laser devices for skin and hair conditions. Additionally, Dr. Berman was the first physician in the world to perform hair transplants using the ARTAS™ robotic hair transplant system, and remains the principal researcher for the manufacturer, Restoration Robotics.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> With a diverse patient population, BSI has a set of broad and comprehensive service offerings, including medical and surgical dermatology (including treatment for acne, moles, allergic skin reactions, autoimmune diseases, skin infections and more); cosmetic dermatology (including laser wrinkle treatment, laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal, laser brown spot removal, laser removal of varicose veins and more); skin care products and medi-spa/esthetician treatments (including chemical peels, microdermabrasion, facials, extractions for acne and more).</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> BSI has a talented and passionate team who strives to deliver the best possible patient care. BSI has opportunities for a Medical Assistant at multiple locations across our offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Valley region.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> More information about Berman Skin Institute can be found at <a href=\"http://www.skinmds.com/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http://www.skinmds.com</a>.              </p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> Position Summary</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment</li>\n<li>Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height</li>\n<li>Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms or operative rooms and prepare them for the physician</li>\n<li>Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records</li>\n<li>Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment</li>\n<li>Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician following safety protocol of right dose, right patient, right route, right drug and noting expiration date</li>\n<li>Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, wound care instructions and physician’s instructions to patients</li>\n<li>Help physician examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as giving injections and removing sutures</li>\n<li>Under physician direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies</li>\n<li>Prepare and clean exam rooms and medical equipment in between each patient and at the end of the day</li>\n<li>Assist physician with surgical procedure while maintaining sterile field</li>\n<li>Assess the patient’s condition throughout the exam, procedure or surgery according to the facility’s policies and notify physician and RN of any indication of distress</li>\n<li>Correctly disposes of infection waste and bio hazard materials</li>\n<li>Schedule appointments for patients</li>\n<li>Change dressings on wound</li>\n<li>Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission</li>\n<li>Inventory and assess the need for instruments, supplies and equipment while keeping the room stocked</li>\n<li>Performs accurate documentation of all procedures in a timely manner</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt\"> </span>Assist physicians in patient, employee, or visitor medical emergencies and ensure proper documentation per facility’s policy</li>\n<li>Inventory and order medical emergency supplies monthly and ensure all equipment is in proper working order</li>\n<li>Adheres to all policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service</li>\n<li>Performs other duties as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Required Qualification (Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities)</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Education/Training</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>\n<li>Certified Medical Assistant</li>\n<li>CPR</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p> <strong>Additional Skills</strong></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications</li>\n<li>Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable</li>\n<li>Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function</li>\n<li>Ability to follow or provide verbal &amp; written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations</li>\n<li>Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and teammate support needs</li>\n<li>Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing</li>\n<li>Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving</li>\n<li>Basic to intermediate computer operation</li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook</li>\n<li>Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function</li>\n<li>Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><strong>Additional Knowledge/Skills</strong></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>2+ years experience in a medical setting preferred</li>\n<li>Dermatology experience a plus</li>\n<li>High level of emotional and professional maturity and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and trust, navigate and flex to varied personalities and communications styles</li>\n<li>Unquestionable work ethic, personal integrity, and honesty</li>\n<li>Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment</li>\n<li>MUST HAVE FLEXIBILITY TO WORK ON SATURDAYS</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Benefits</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black\">Berman Skin Institute believes our people are the secret to our success, and we work to create an environment where our people are appreciated, engaged, supported and rewarded.
