Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Interaction with design/product teams to plan and execute MOCVD growths aimed at realizing next generation and newly conceived epitaxial designs and structures.
Develop and execute DOE’s to define and optimize MOCVD process windows. Areas of improvement include capability, yield, throughput, and/or costs.
Work with Equipment Engineers to help identify and design reactor hardware modifications or MOCVD process changes as needed in support of new process development.
Presentation of development results and assigned manufacturing-based metrics to senior management, to internal interdisciplinary based teams, and to external customers.
Apply engineering and manufacturing principles to transition epi designs from development to pilot production. Support parametric analysis as needed for yield/performance issues.
Education & Experience
Masters degree or higher in engineering, physics, or chemistry, and 5+ years of related experience.
Experience with Quality Management System
Solid State Device Physics background in Optoelectronic devices required
5-10 years of epitaxial growth in a production environment preferred
Experience under ISO 9001 or similar Quality Management System
Experience with SPC, Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing
Experience with statistical software packages
Proficient with MS Office Software
Knowledge of SQL preferred
Excellent communication skills required
Skills
Familiarity with SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, MSA and other aspects of manufacturing and data analysis. JMP experience a plus
Ability to communicate and present complex technical concepts and results to multidisciplinary teams
Background in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, electronic engineering preferred but not essential.
Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for an office environment and non-climate controlled manufacturing facility
Must be able to travel domestically 5% of the time and internationally 5% of the time.
Physical Requirements
Able to wear clean room attire for a Class 100/1000 clean room.
Able to stand for 5 hours a day.
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
