Description

Assistant Pastor of Family Ministry & Local Engagement About Stone Hill Church Stone Hill Church is a nondenominational, gospel-centered, Great Commission church (Matt. 28:16-20) committed to winning, building, connecting and sending disciples for Jesus Christ. Philosophy of Family Discipleship and Ministry Stone Hill Church’s approach to Family Ministry is grounded in Deuteronomy 6 and the principle commonly referred to as “Sticky Faith”—a faith that endures into adulthood. Our philosophy of ministry is: Parents are the primary disciplers of their children; the church supports and equips, but does not replace the home. Students are to be known by 3–5 mature Christian adults in addition to their parents, who can model and reinforce a lived-out faith. Students are called into real discipleship: worship, Scripture engagement, service, and growth in holiness, held together with patience, grace, and pastoral care. Students are given space to ask questions, express doubts, and wrestle honestly without fear of embarrassment or dismissal. Students are integrated into the full life of the church, including gathered worship, rather than separated siloed environment. Students are given meaningful opportunities to serve and take ownership within the church community. Our aim is not behavior management, but identity rooted in Jesus Christ. We seek to see young people grow into mature, devoted followers of Jesus who remain engaged in the church as adults, wherever God calls them. Job Description The Assistant Pastor of Family Ministry and Local Engagement leads the vision and execution of family discipleship and local engagement at Stone Hill Church. This role equips and disciples the congregation—especially parents and families—to grow in their knowledge, love, and obedience to Jesus Christ, and to live out their faith through evangelism and service in the local community. This pastor provides teaching, leadership, and oversight that fosters spiritual maturity, strengthens families in their role as primary disciplers, and mobilizes the church for meaningful local engagement. He operates with a deep confidence in the authority and sufficiency of God’s Word as central to both discipleship and mission. Objectives Of This Role Provide pastoral leadership in developing and strengthening family discipleship, equipping parents and integrating the next generation into the life of the church. Lead and oversee local engagement efforts that mobilize the congregation for evangelism and service within the surrounding community. Ensure all ministries under this role align with the church’s theological convictions, philosophy of ministry, and overall mission. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Church Leadership and Administration Leads and implements the vision for Family Ministry and Local Engagement in alignment with the church’s mission, theology, and ministry philosophy. Serves as a member of the Pastoral Team, contributing to leadership, teaching, and congregational care. Regularly preaches and teaches as part of the church’s pulpit and teaching rotation, as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Develops, equips, and multiplies leaders and volunteers to carry out ministry initiatives, ensuring ministry is leader-driven rather than staff-dependent. Participates in pastoral care responsibilities, including Care Team rotation and support of congregational needs. Collaborates with the Elders and Senior Pastor in areas of congregational training, care, and ministry development, including potential parish leadership. Parent and Family Discipleship Leads and oversees all aspects of Family Ministry, ensuring alignment with the church’s philosophy of family discipleship and overall ministry priorities. Supervises and develops Family Ministry staff, providing clear direction, support, and accountability. Equips and resources parents to serve as the primary disciplers of their children, offering teaching, counsel, and practical tools. Ensures that student ministry is integrated into the life of the church and functions as an extension of family discipleship. Oversees the Assistant Pastor of Next Gen, ensuring alignment in middle school and high school ministry with the church’s vision and priorities. Evaluates and refines Family Ministry structures, programs, and communications to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the church’s mission. Develops and implements new initiatives that strengthen families and advance the church’s discipleship strategy. Manages the financial and material resources of Family Ministry, including budget development and curriculum selection. Local Engagement and Evangelism Leads and oversees all local engagement efforts for Stone Hill Church, including supervision of the Local Engagement Team. Develops and implements strategies, programs, and partnerships that mobilize the congregation for evangelism and service in the local community. Cultivates relationships with community organizations, leaders, and partners to create meaningful opportunities for engagement, service, and gospel witness. Collaborates with the Pastor(s) overseeing Benevolence, the Koinonia Team, and the Global Outreach Director to coordinate and strengthen outreach efforts. Ensures all local engagement initiatives align with the church’s theological convictions, mission, and leadership direction. Minimum Qualifications Personal Responsibilities The following personal responsibilities are required for everyone on staff at Stone Hill: Demonstrates a growing, mature relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by humility, integrity, and a desire to serve. Lives in accordance with the biblical qualifications for spiritual leadership (e.g., 1 Tim. 3:1–7; Titus 1:6–9; Gal. 5:22–23). Maintains God-ordained priorities, placing Christ first, family second, and ministry third. Is a man of prayer, demonstrating personal dependence on the Lord and leading others in prayer as part of his ministry. Relates to others with grace, wisdom, and emotional intelligence, reflecting a Christ-like character in all interactions. Spiritual Affirms and supports Stone Hill Church’s bylaws, doctrinal and mission statements, Peacemakers’ Pledge, and staff covenant. Supports the church’s ministry philosophy, including a charitable complementarianism and the dual practice of credo- and paedo-baptism, and is able to serve with unity and charity alongside those holding differing convictions. Will become a member of Stone Hill Church and actively participate in its life and mission. Personally engages in evangelism and invites others to know Jesus and connect with the church. Education and Experience A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college is required. Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree strongly preferred. Ordination from a recognized evangelical body consistent with the church’s doctrinal convictions is preferred; if not already ordained, willingness to pursue ordination through Stone Hill Church.
