Together, the university’s community of doers, makers, healers, and innovators empowers graduates to change the world, solve 21st-century challenges, and reinvent the future.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>For more information, visit nyit.edu.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>NYTech’s College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an Instructor, for its Masters Program in Biomedical Sciences (BMS) located at the Old Westbury campus.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The faculty responsibilities are divided into teaching, service, and scholarly activities. All faculty are expected to participate effectively in all three areas.  These responsibilities are further explained below:</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Teaching:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Actively participate in facilitating the learning of biomedical graduate students.</li>\n <li>Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and modification as part of the program's continuing quality improvement and assessment efforts.</li>\n <li>Assist other BMS faculty members with course management and administration.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of basic scientific and clinical faculty to create and implement basic science content in an innovative and integrated biomedical curriculum that follows established best practices.</li>\n <li>Participate in the developed and implemented student assessment and evaluation processes, providing feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that all students fulfill the established requirements.</li>\n <li>Participate in, develop, and facilitate a variety of active learning events, including case-based learning.</li>\n <li>Mentor and advise graduate BMS students. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> Service:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Serve on program committees, provide leadership, mentoring, and knowledge to students, and participate in professional organizations or groups as assigned by the Director of the BMS Program in Old Westbury.</li>\n <li>Maintain regular office hours for student advising, mentoring, and tutoring.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate adaptability and willingness to help the institution achieve its goal and vision through teaching, academic administration duties (course/program coordinator/director), and/or other duties as given by the course leadership.</li>\n <li>Advance the COM's prominence by advancing its goal and vision, as well as your own personal career.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>General Expectations:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain a personal and professional development plan, including documentation of teaching, professional development activities and plans, service provided to college and communities, scholarly activity (primarily in medical education) to assure personal growth and continued competency in consultation with the director of biomedical sciences program.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance.</li>\n <li>Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively and as a team with colleagues, supervisors, and support staff.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>An earned Master’s-level degree ( e.g., M.S., M.A.) in educational, biomedical (e.g., microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics), or a related discipline (e.g., pharmacology) with documented teaching experience is preferred. Candidates with or on a path towards a terminal degree (e.g., Ed.D., Ph.D., DO, MD, Pharm. D.) and documented experience in medical education will also be considered. Evidence of ability or potential to conduct scholarly activity in medical education, or health policy/public health, ability to mentor students, and excellent interpersonal, team, and collaborative skills are essential.
