    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Are you looking for opportunities to enhance your Social Service skills and experience?<span>  </span>Do you want a change from full-time work or to ‘keep your foot in the door’ after retirement?<span>  </span>Are you available on an as-needed basis to work day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts?<span>  </span>Then Family Transition Place has the Shelter Relief Counsellor position for you!<span>  </span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 13.5pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Family Transition Place operates an Emergency Shelter for women and their children who are dealing with the effects of abuse.<span>  </span>The shelter is located in Orangeville, Ontario.<span>  </span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Shelter Relief Counsellors are an important component of Family Transition Place’s services and programs. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Relief Counsellors are responsible for providing:<br><br></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Crisis Line response and support </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Supportive one-on-one and group counselling</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Information and referral to appropriate legal, medical, and housing services and other community resources</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Completion of administrative tasks i.e., record keeping, intake procedures, reports</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Routine facility maintenance and security procedures</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Qualifications:<br><br></span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Post-Secondary Education in the Social Services field </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Understanding of violence against women and children issues</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Crisis intervention and problem solving skills</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Strong supportive counselling skills</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Good written and oral communication skills</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Knowledge of community resources and how to access them</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Basic knowledge of facility management </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Ability to work both cooperatively as a team member and independently with minimal supervision</span></li>\n<li><span>Skill in the use of a personal computer for word processing</span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Vulnerable Sector Records Check</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Reliable transportation</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Hours of Work:<br><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Symbol; font-size: 9.0pt\"><span>·         </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">As-Needed basis within a rotating schedule of day, evening, overnight &amp; weekend shifts.<br><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Symbol; font-size: 9.0pt\"><span>·         </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Please note</span><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">: <span>      </span>Must be available for overnight shifts</span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"><span>                                   </span>Must be available on short notice</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\">Salary: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour</span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 11.5pt\"> </span></p>\n<p>The successful candidate will join a compassionate, caring, and forward-thinking family of professionals.
