Description

Overview Gain entry level skills to perform GMAW welding on a diversified line of standard weldments using American Welding Society welding symbols. Learn to set-up, fit and position weldments having a number of parts, use welding fixtures and jigs where applicable. Work from blueprints and job layouts; use measuring equipment and gauges. Work is subject to first and final piece inspections per the AWS D1.1 visual inspection requirements. Use hand grinders and dynafiles to remove weld splatter and sharp edges from metal materials. Work on a wide variety of manufactured parts; most on thin-gauge material. Responsibilities Essential Functions: Knowledge of set up and operation of welding machines to weld test requirements Read measuring tools (tape measure, combo square) Operate hand/air tools and electric grinders Read and interpret work instructions and AWS welding symbols from blueprints Perform GMAW welding assignments and metal finishing tasks to meet daily welding projects while maintaining standards of quality Qualifications Education and Experience: High school or general education degree (GED) preferred Skills and Abilities: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Complete standardized written documentation and correspondence. Professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to perform basic electronic tasks using computer software and Microsoft Office. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Environment is a modern production facility with heat and air conditioning Required to stand up to 100% of the time Required to reach at or above shoulder level, occasionally Required to climb and/or stand on an elevated step or ladder to perform duties of the job, occasionally Required use of hands and fingers to manipulate tools and product Use of hand tool, both electrical and manual, including hand grinders, air tools, and other fabrication tools. Ability to maneuver, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, use extended reaching, and twist while performing select duties of the job Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, regularly Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds, intermittently Ability to lift 50 to 70 pounds, with assistance, occasionally Ability to operate equipment up to 15 feet in the air to retrieve product or tools #ZR
