    "description": "<h2></h2>\n<p></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Oversee the evaluation, classification, and rating of risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing</li>\n <li>Implement underwriting policies under the direction of the Managing Director and ensure compliance with these policies</li>\n <li>Be accountable for producing business in the assigned territories </li>\n <li>Underwrite new and renewal business</li>\n <li>Be technologically savvy and data driven. Develop those capabilities in their team</li>\n <li>Monitor critical areas, such as loss ratio, costs, retention ratio and new business hit ratio, formulating corrective action where necessary</li>\n <li>Work to become expert in classes of business written within the Burns & Wilcox office </li>\n <li>Mentor and train underwriters and associates</li>\n <li>Participate in national and local advertising, telemarketing and agency visits </li>\n <li>Assist with the development of strategic plans</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience</li>\n <li>Minimum 3 years of experience as a sales team leader including direct management experience</li>\n <li>Minimum 5 years of multi-line underwriting/production experience, excess & surplus experience preferred</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and motivate a team</li>\n <li>Ability to develop and manage strong relations with clients, carriers and third parties</li>\n <li>Demonstrated proficiency in sales and marketing</li>\n <li>Proven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detail</li>\n <li>P&C Insurance license.
