Lochmueller Group is seeking an Archaeological Field Supervisor to support and lead archaeological field investigations and cultural resources work as part of our Environmental Services team. This position plays a critical hands-on role in leading archaeological field work, conducting archaeological surveys and excavations, and supporting Section 106 compliance efforts under the direction of a Principal Investigator. Key responsibilities include: Archaeological Fieldwork Supervision: Conduct and supervise archaeological field investigations including Phase I surveys, Phase II evaluations, monitoring, and limited data recovery under the direction of a Principal Investigator. Lead field crews during pedestrian survey, shovel testing, excavation, and site documentation. Ensure accurate field recording, mapping, photography, and completion of site forms. Maintain field equipment, vehicles, and supplies and ensure proper use by field staff. Technical Support & Regulatory Compliance: Support Section 106 compliance efforts through field data collection, background research, and technical documentation. Assist with artifact identification, analysis, cataloging, and curation tasks. Contribute to technical reports, site evaluations, eligibility recommendations, and cultural resources documentation. Provide technical oversight and on-the-job training to field technicians and junior staff. Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, job hazard analyses, and fieldwork best practices. Communicate field progress, issues, and findings clearly and timely to project leadership. Perform other duties associated with the position as assigned.
