The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering ESL curriculum. Along with the classroom hours, there will be a strong focus on using a learning management system and collaborative learning.</p><p><strong>Essential Job Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</strong></p><p>&bull; Teach courses in Academic ESL up to 27.5 hours per week.</p><p>&bull; Prepare and submit lesson plans prior to each course session.</p><p>&bull; Grade and provide feedback on student work in a timely manner.</p><p>&bull; Evaluate and monitor students&rsquo; progress the use of various assessment tools.</p><p>&bull; Deliver engaging instruction through a variety of student-centered classroom activities.</p><p>&bull; Maintain necessary records to report student academic progress (SAP) to the Academic Dean/Program Manager.</p><p>&bull; Provide support through academic advising to ensure student growth and retention.</p><p>&bull; Attend and participate in quarterly instructor in-service meetings.</p><p>&bull; Stay well-informed with the trends and developments in ESL studies by attending professional development activities outside of CSI and completing a minimum of two professional growth activities annually.</p><p>&bull; Organize and lead field trips for student enrichment once per quarter.</p><p>&bull; Actively contribute to program improvement by proactively providing feedback and participating in various committees.</p><p>&bull; Additional tasks as needed.</p><p><strong>Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><p>&bull; Knowledge of pedagogical methods teaching ESL</p><p>&bull; Native or near-native ability to speak English</p><p><strong>Education and Experience</strong>: The position requires a Master&rsquo;s Degree in ESL/EFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or related field). At least two years of prior teaching experience to adult learners preferred. If the Master&rsquo;s Degree is not in ESL/EFL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or related field), language teaching faculty must have a specific knowledge base and skill set that includes the following:</p><p>&bull;&nbsp;Language teaching methodology</p><p>&bull; The nature of language/languages (e.g., introduction to linguistics</p><p>&bull; The structure of English (e.g., syntax, phonology, morphology, discourse)</p><p>&bull;&nbsp;Second language acquisition</p><p>&bull; Intercultural communication (e.g., sociolinguistics, cross-cultural studies)</p><p>&bull; Practicum experience</p><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong>: While performing the duties of this job, the instructor is regularly required to stand; walk and sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.</p><p><strong>Work Environment</strong>: Normal office working conditions.
