Responsible to assure the planned care is delivered in a safe, economical and efficient manner, which follows facility&rsquo;s policies and procedures</p><p><strong><u>GENERAL PURPOSE AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong><u>:</u></p><p><strong>Responsibilities and Duties:</strong></p><ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\"><li>Receive report and count with off-going nurse. Be prepared at the end of the shift to give report to the on-coming nurse unless you are in an emergency.</li><li>Comply with State and Federal Rules and Regulations for long term care facilities; as well as follow facility policies and procedures.</li><li>Supervise, teach, and assist C.N.A.s as necessary. Note that all residents are being turned and positioned, cleaned and dried, etc.</li><li>Acquire general knowledge of pertinent facility and nursing policies and other department&rsquo;s functions and interactions with nursing service.</li><li>Function as an important member of the nursing team, receiving assignment from and reporting to supervisor(s) as indicated.</li><li>Does work accurately, neatly, and completely.</li><li>Maintains organization at the nurse&rsquo;s station.</li><li>Communicates resident concerns, problems, and / or changes in condition to the physician.</li><li>Provides privacy for all residents.</li><li>Complete admissions, discharges, and transfers of resident forms as needed.</li><li>Answers resident&rsquo;s call light and seeks assistance as necessary.</li><li>Observes and reports patient&rsquo;s general condition and behavior, both physical and mental.</li><li>Administer medications as ordered with each medication pass and document in the EHR.</li><li>If indicated, complete treatments as ordered and document in the EHR.</li><li>Checks to assure the C.N.A.s have completed all duties and POC by the end of the shift.</li><li>Document all pertinent information in the EHR.</li><li>Complete incident reports, event fall forms, and observation forms in the EHR each shift and report to DON/ADON as necessary.</li><li>Knows when and how to administer CPR and does so.</li><li>Complete Report Sheet and Charge Nurse Checklist each shift.</li><li>Update the schedule and daily assignment as needed.</li><li>Assist physicians when at facility and via phone.</li><li>Ensure 2 step PPD is done on admission and results documented on the EHR.</li><li>Orders OTC medications as needed and keeps med room organized.</li><li>Assist the DON, ADON, and Administrator with duties and projects as assigned and maintain confidentiality of all records and issues in the facility.</li><li>Receive visitors, answer telephone, and answer call lights in a courteous manner.</li><li>Fax pharmacy reorder sheets as needed.</li><li>Assure that all residents receive meals and are assisted with their meals as needed.</li><li>Receive, verify, and put away all medications delivered by pharmacies.</li><li>Responsible for communicating with the doctors and family members regarding changes in residents.</li><li>Responsible for recording I &amp; O&rsquo;s in the EHR as ordered.</li><li>Responsible for carrying out all physician orders in a timely manner and notifying physician if there is a reason the order cannot be carried out.</li><li>Responsible for documenting glucose levels in the EHR and in the accu check book and notifying physicians as ordered.</li><li>Stock medication carts at the end of your shift.</li></ol><p>&nbsp;<strong>Related Functions:</strong></p><ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\"><li>Arrives for the scheduled shift no earlier than fifteen (15) minutes before the shift begins and clocks out no later than fifteen (15) minutes after the scheduled shift ends.</li><li>Required to work weekends on a rotating basis.</li><li>Responsible for one overtime shift a month if needed.</li><li>Demonstrates loyalty to the organization, honesty, and integrity at all times in the care and use of patient / resident and facility property.</li><li>Demonstrates positive support of any and all programs / projects implemented by the DON or Administration.</li><li>Maintains confidentiality of patient / resident information.</li><li>Displays a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times.</li><li>Cooperates when needed if the facility faces an emergency or unusual circumstance.</li><li>Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities through monitoring and evaluation of resident care.</li><li>May be asked to participate on committees and community projects.</li><li>Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, performance improvement, and infection control activities as necessary.</li><li>Promote teamwork with physicians, residents, families, visitors, and co-workers.</li><li>Use proper body mechanics for transfers, lifting, etc&hellip;</li><li>All other duties as assigned.</li></ol></div>\n",
