Description

Basic Function Reporting to the Product Specialist Supervisor, the Research Technologist will provide laboratory support for lubricant product research and development. Job Duties Lubricant product development laboratory support Assist in formulation development Blending of prototype product samples including both small scale and large scale (pilot blending plant) blends Execute physical testing of samples and coordinate testing with external laboratories Develop, implement and maintain test methods for use in lubricant product development, problem solving and customer assistance Display good laboratory bench techniques and show initiative in carrying out tasks Document and maintain records of all blends and test results Maintain and organize laboratory including additive inventory. Work collaboratively with product specialists, technicians and technologists Provide product issue resolution support and collaborate within the organization to solve problems Adhere to all safety, quality (ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949) and environmental (ISO 14001) procedures in the laboratory, document and maintain records Assist with product shipping documentation, including large scale shipments Execute other assigned research and development tasks   Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion Experience Experience in a chemical or petroleum product laboratory environment preferred Experience in implementation and testing requirements of ASTM International standardized test methods for lubricants and related products Experience in method development, validation and quality system documentation Education Level Bachelor of Science degree or Diploma in Chemical or Chemical Engineering Technology Required Skills Demonstrate knowledge and capability in lubricant formulation development, sample blending and testing Excellent laboratory bench technique and ability to handle multiple tasks in parallel Excellent computer skills will be put to use preparing data for analysis and building and maintaining spreadsheets and reports Ability to work well within a team and independently is critical Demonstrate solid written and verbal communication skills Self-starter, willing to take the initiative on new tasks and projects Ability to operate a forklift (licensed training provided) Knoweldge of Trasnportation of Dangersous Goods / TDG (training provided) Work Conditions Primarily work in a laboratory environment with occasional work in a pilot blending plant environment Our hiring process incorporates AI tools to assist with the recruitment process This job posting is to fill an existing vacancy wihtin our organization The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications Physical Requirements Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, lifting or carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., perceiving color differences. Job conditions may require twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching or grasping, and working in confined spaces as permitted.
