Description Position Social Worker Classification Exempt Salary $65,000-$75,000 Reports to Assistant Executive Director Location Multisite Date November 7, 2024 JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/ Objective General Overview East Side House Settlement is a community resource in the South Bronx. We believe education is the key that enables all people to create economic and civic opportunities for themselves, their families and the communities. We are seeking a dynamic, hard-working, and creative leader who shares our passion for providing exceptional programming to children and families in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. Under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Director, the Social Worker is integral to East Side House’s strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the programs and communities we serve. The Social Worker serve as the primary leaders of wrap-around services for program participants and families, design and implement (proactive and preventive) social work programs to promote social and emotional health, respond to day-to-day participant issues and unanticipated crises and their most immediate needs. Duties & Responsibilities: Agency and Community: • Lead mediations as necessary using relational-based models within social work practice and in alignment with ESH’s commitment to Restorative Practices • Create interagency and external partnerships to further department/organizational goals (i.e., Department Director, Director’s.) • Support with recruitment efforts and agency representation during community outreach and advocacy • Attend meeting as needed and advocate/schedule meetings as necessary with social workers and other leaders within the organization • Participate in assigned staff development training’s (i.e., leadership academy, departmental trainings, inter-department meetings) • Organize and lead three community events annually (resource fair, community giveback, etc.) • Manage assigned special project(s) and represent social work presence in cross-departmental events • Establish partnerships with community organizations to substitute additional workshops and resources for the community and families we serve Participant and Families: • Conduct initial interview with participant/family for intake and assess participant/family needs and strengths • Make in-depth assessment using various age-appropriate assessment tools. Assessment will include home visits and input from program personnel. The thorough assessment will identify psychosocial factors causing stress to participant and her/his family. Based on this assessment, an intervention plan will be created • Provide short-term supportive counseling and to alleviate crises for participant and families as necessary • Conduct an affirming, motivational family assessment that will serve to excite families about the possibility of support in goal attainment • Build strong relationships with families to facilitate collaborative approach to participant support, and coordinate the delivery of mental health and family services at community organizations for participants and families outside of the organization • Serve as an internal liaison to link participants and families offered throughout ESH’s programs (i.e., childcare, after school, community and school-based programs, workforce, post-secondary, etc.) • Provide and facilitate bilingual workshops for parents on interest areas surveyed during assessments (i.e. bullying, financial management, life skills, etc.) • Design and implement creative interventions for participants with repeated instances of similar challenges Support Services and Data Collection: • Maintain paperwork in timely fashion: assessments, case notes, monthly reports, data input/forms • Facilitate Professional Development curriculum for interns, peers and provide consultation on social-emotional related issues to staff. • Develop scope and sequence and unit plans for SEL lessons • Work collaboratively with program leadership to plan and execute Social Emotional Learning Time (SELT) Manage social work intern program: • In partnership with Assistant Executive Director, oversee sourcing, recruitment, selection, and onboarding of undergraduate and graduate interns • Provide one on one supportive supervision and evaluation for interns • Collaborate with undergraduate and graduate schools to facilitate mutual learning/learning exchange • Coordinate with director to assign participant referrals to interns Qualifications: • Commitment to demonstrating ESH’s organizational values of Excellence, Integrity, Compassion, Empathy, and Community • New York State LMSW from an accredited school of social work preferred • SIFI Certification strongly with at least one year’s experience supervising social work interns • Knowledge of the network of social services available to parents and families in New York • Bilingual in English and Spanish • Excellent oral and written communication/interpersonal skills as well as a desire to collaborate with various • Ability to engage, build relationships, and demonstrate empathy with children and families • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with staff members • Diverse cultural competence required • Interest in and comfort with working with data informed practice • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel, email correspondence, and database management a requisite Required Clearances 1. Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DOE) 2. Annual physical with TB screen 3. Must obtain NYC Dept. of Health Fingerprint clearance and State Central Registry (SCR) Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have any supervisory experience. Qualifications Work Environment The position is in an office environment. The dress code is business casual. This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Travel Travel between ESH program locations is expected for this position. Travel throughout the NYC boroughs is expected for this position (on a need basis). Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is generally a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Work Schedule This is a full-time position. Generally, work hours are scheduled Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm and/or 12pm-7pm. Some evenings and weekends are required. Workdays/hours subject to change based on ESH’s needs. The Social Worker serve as the primary leaders of wrap-around services for program participants and families, design and implement (proactive and preventive) social work programs to promote social and emotional health, respond to day-to-day participant issues and unanticipated crises and their most immediate needs.\\r\\n\\r\\nDuties &amp; Responsibilities:\\r\\nAgency and Community:\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nLead mediations as necessary using relational-based models within social work practice and in alignment with ESH&rsquo;s commitment to Restorative Practices\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nCreate interagency and external partnerships to further department/organizational goals (i.e., Department Director, Director&rsquo;s.)\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nSupport with recruitment efforts and agency representation during community outreach and advocacy\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nAttend meeting as needed and advocate/schedule meetings as necessary with social workers and other leaders within the organization\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nParticipate in assigned staff development training&rsquo;s (i.e., leadership academy, departmental trainings, inter-department meetings)\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nOrganize and lead three community events annually (resource fair, community giveback, etc.)\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nManage assigned special project(s) and represent social work presence in cross-departmental events\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nEstablish partnerships with community organizations to substitute additional workshops and resources for the community and families we serve\\r\\nParticipant and Families:\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nConduct initial interview with participant/family for intake and assess participant/family needs and strengths\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nMake in-depth assessment using various age-appropriate assessment tools. Assessment will include home visits and input from program personnel. The thorough assessment will identify psychosocial factors causing stress to participant and her/his family. Based on this assessment, an intervention plan will be created\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nProvide short-term supportive counseling and to alleviate crises for participant and families as necessary\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nConduct an affirming, motivational family assessment that will serve to excite families about the possibility of support in goal attainment\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nBuild strong relationships with families to facilitate collaborative approach to participant support, and coordinate the delivery of mental health and family services at community organizations for participants and families outside of the organization\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nServe as an internal liaison to link participants and families offered throughout ESH&rsquo;s programs (i.e., childcare, after school, community and school-based programs, workforce, post-secondary, etc.)\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nProvide and facilitate bilingual workshops for parents on interest areas surveyed during assessments (i.e. bullying, financial management, life skills, etc.)\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nDesign and implement creative interventions for participants with repeated instances of similar challenges\\r\\nSupport Services and Data Collection:\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nMaintain paperwork in timely fashion: assessments, case notes, monthly reports, data input/forms\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nFacilitate Professional Development curriculum for interns, peers and provide consultation on social-emotional related issues to staff.\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nDevelop scope and sequence and unit plans for SEL lessons\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nWork collaboratively with program leadership to plan and execute Social Emotional Learning Time (SELT)\\r\\nManage social work intern program:\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nIn partnership with Assistant Executive Director, oversee sourcing, recruitment, selection, and onboarding of undergraduate and graduate interns\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nProvide one on one supportive supervision and evaluation for interns\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nCollaborate with undergraduate and graduate schools to facilitate mutual learning/learning exchange\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nCoordinate with director to assign participant referrals to interns\\r\\nQualifications:\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nCommitment to demonstrating ESH&rsquo;s organizational values of Excellence, Integrity, Compassion, Empathy, and Community\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nNew York State LMSW from an accredited school of social work preferred\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nSIFI Certification strongly with at least one year&rsquo;s experience supervising social work interns\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nKnowledge of the network of social services available to parents and families in New York\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nBilingual in English and Spanish\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nExcellent oral and written communication/interpersonal skills as well as a desire to collaborate with various\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nAbility to engage, build relationships, and demonstrate empathy with children and families\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nStrong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and responsibilities\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nCapacity to work independently and collaboratively with staff members\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nDiverse cultural competence required\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nInterest in and comfort with working with data informed practice\\r\\n&bull;\\r\\nComputer proficiency including Microsoft Word and Excel, email correspondence, and database management a requisite\\r\\nRequired Clearances\\r\\n1.\\r\\nDepartment of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DOE)\\r\\n2.\\r\\nAnnual physical with TB screen\\r\\n3.\\r\\nMust obtain NYC Dept. of Health Fingerprint clearance and State Central Registry (SCR)\\r\\nSupervisory Responsibilities\\r\\nThis position does not have any supervisory experience.\\r\\nQualificationsWork Environment\\r\\nThe position is in an office environment.
