Job Summary The Communications Technician provides advanced technical support, installation, maintenance, and documentation of enterprise voice, data, and video communication systems. This role supports both inside and outside plant infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cabling systems. The position serves as a key resource for network reliability, physical infrastructure documentation, and regulatory compliance, including coordination and execution of utility locate requests. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Activates network and telephone jacks, configuring network switches and analog voice gateways as needed. Provides tier two support for network, telephony, and IP video infrastructures, which includes monitoring, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance. Performs moves, adds, and changes of communication endpoints utilizing work order support system. Assists network/telephony administrators and engineers in resolving complex voice and data communications issues. Maintains documentation of network and telephone jacks, endpoints, e911 locations, and inside and outside cable plants. Coordinates and performs utility locate services in response to 811 tickets, identifying and marking underground communication lines (fiber and copper) using cable locators and cable plant documentation. Maintains and increases technical knowledge through coursework, workshops, seminars, readings, and cross training with other team members. Performs other duties as assigned. ",
