This position has an initial appointment of 1 year.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.
Applications are invited for a research associate position within Dr. Stephanie Chamberlain’s program of research. Dr. Chamberlain is seeking a research associate to support ongoing research projects, contribute to the team’s research, administrative, and educational activities, and assist in grant development for future competitions. The research program comprises a portfolio of ongoing projects funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Alzheimer Society of Canada, and the Government of Alberta. These projects primarily focus on the care of older adults in continuing care settings. The research associate will lead research activities under the direction of Dr. Chamberlain, supporting data analysis, synthesis, and interpretation of findings, report writing, manuscript preparation, knowledge translation, and grant applications. They will also participate in project planning, team meetings, and foster collaboration with non-academic partners. The ideal candidate should have the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. It is the expectation that the Research Associate is currently engaged in relevant health services research. The successful candidate must have a proven record of research accomplishment, and they will have the opportunity to be a co-author on relevant manuscripts if co-authorship criteria are met, and a co-applicant for research funding applications if such opportunity arises. They will work in a hybrid model (in-person and virtual, as applicable).
Responsibilities
Helps to design research projects, implement, and oversee research activities in collaboration with the Principal Investigator Assists in the development of applied health research projects with a particular focus on older persons’ care, health system use, and equity-seeking groups. Interacts with colleagues, trainees, non-academic partners within and outside the University of Alberta. Contributes to quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and report writing. Supports grant application development and knowledge translation activities. Prepare documents for research ethics board applications and amendments. Assist in data preparation for presentations, and in writing and revising research manuscripts and reports. Supports meeting planning and implementation. Contributes to the dissemination of research findings to non-academic partners, and prepares findings to be presented at team meetings and scientific conferences. Supervises and mentors research assistants and trainees. Provides administrative support such as managing CVs, organizing files, formatting and submitting manuscripts to academic journals, budget tracking and reconciliation, and expense reimbursements.

Completed PhD degree in a related discipline such as: epidemiology, health services, nursing, gerontology, sociology, psychology, community health or public health Training in quantitative and/or qualitative health or social science research methods Demonstrated initiative, independence, organization, and productivity Experience coordinating social/health science research projects with diverse organizations and professionals Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills Excellent writing ability Excellent computer skills using MS Word, Excel, Office, and Internet Applications Experience working under short time lines, with proven ability to adhere to strict schedules and guidelines Sensitivity to ethics issues; ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
The following qualifications as an asset:
Mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative) research experience Experience with SAS, R, SPSS, STATA Experience in research focused on older adults’ care or quality of life Experience with administrative health datasets Experience applying to Tri-Council grant agencies (e.g., CIHR, SSHRC) Familiarity with the University of Alberta administrative structure, policies, and procedures about research

"InternalResponsibilitiesStr": "<ul><li>Helps to design research projects, implement, and oversee research activities in collaboration with the Principal Investigator</li><li>Assists in the development of applied health research projects with a particular focus on older persons’ care, health system use, and equity-seeking groups. </li><li>Interacts with colleagues, trainees, non-academic partners within and outside the University of Alberta.</li><li>Contributes to quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and report writing.</li><li>Supports grant application development and knowledge translation activities.</li><li>Prepare documents for research ethics board applications and amendments.</li><li>Assist in data preparation for presentations, and in writing and revising research manuscripts and reports.</li><li>Supports meeting planning and implementation.</li><li>Contributes to the dissemination of research findings to non-academic partners, and prepares findings to be presented at team meetings and scientific conferences.</li><li>Supervises and mentors research assistants and trainees.</li><li>Provides administrative support such as managing CVs, organizing files, formatting and submitting manuscripts to academic journals, budget tracking and reconciliation, and expense reimbursements.</li></ul>",
