Role Overview
ABS Global , a Genus company, has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing operations team. The salary range for this position is $69,000 – $85,000 USD. This role will support Lean Manufacturing initiatives across our production laboratories, partnering closely with operations, quality, training, supply chain, and leadership to improve efficiency, flow, safety, and quality.
This is a great opportunity for an early‑career engineer looking to develop hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, bio‑manufacturing environment while contributing to meaningful work within animal genetics and agriculture.
You Will
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and data‑driven problem solving:
5S and visual management
Kaizen facilitation
Kanban systems and pull control
Error proofing (Poka‑Yoke)
Quick changeover reduction (SMED)
Root cause analysis (5 Whys, Ishikawa)
Partner across engineering, production, quality, training, and supply chain to increase customer value by supporting:
New equipment and tooling commissioning
Capacity and headcount planning
Production readiness reviews
Evaluation of engineering changes and impact on production flow
Strategic cost‑reduction projects
Analyze manufacturing processes to identify and reduce waste through:
Time studies and process observations
Current‑state vs. future‑state mapping
Data‑based prioritization of improvement opportunities
Develop and maintain standardized work, including:
Standard work instructions
Yamazumi charts and takt‑based staffing plans
Line balance and variability reduction
Identify and support automation and advanced technology opportunities, including:
Human‑machine collaboration
Digital tools and simulation
AI‑supported decision making
Build functional knowledge of company processes, products, and customers.
Provide informal guidance to newer team members.
Communicate technical concepts clearly in collaborative, cross‑functional settings.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline
Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
Experience
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, process‑driven environment
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Ability to develop technical understanding of bio‑manufacturing processes
Travel
