J ob Title: Hazmat Specialist Position Number: HAZM S 001 Location: Williamsburg, VA Worksite: NMRLC Cheatham Annex Travel: As required Status: Full-Time, Contingent Upon Contract Award Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain Government background investigation and CAC Date Added: April 9, 2026 Job Summary: The Hazardous Material Specialist manages hazardous materials operations, ensuring compliant lifecycle management, quality assurance, and regulatory adherence in support of mission requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: Manage hazardous materials receiving, inventory management, warehousing, and material handling operations. Apply hazardous materials program principles to evaluate the effectiveness of shelf-life and controlled assets. Conduct quality assurance inspections using statistical sampling and approved inspection methods. Maintain hazardous material assets using automated inventory and records management systems. Ensure compliant storage, issue, substitution, and disposal of hazardous materials. Perform hazardous waste determination, profiling, and processing in accordance with regulatory requirements. Prepare hazardous materials for shipment, including packaging, labeling, documentation, and declaration of dangerous goods. Maintain accurate documentation supporting hazardous materials management and regulatory compliance. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Required Qualifications and Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in hazardous materials management. Specialized Experience: Knowledge of hazardous materials lifecycle management, quality assurance methods, and regulatory compliance requirements governed by DoD, NAVSUP, and DLA.
