    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px; text-decoration: underline\"><span>Skagway CDL DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION</span></span></span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">TIMEFRAME</span>: April - October</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span>A CDL Driver’s main responsibility is to carry out the company’s mission of providing passengers with a safe, enjoyable, and educational experience. </span><span>A CDL Driver will drive guests in buses on a series of trips which travel around to local attractions, visit outdoor recreation sites, stop at </span><span>museums</span><span> and take scenic drives as far as across the Canadian border. </span><span>Most tours</span><span> are staffed with a ‘</span><span>Spieler</span><span>’ guide who escorts the guests through the entire tour, narrates during the drives, and </span><span>is responsible for</span><span> overall guest experience. </span><span>A </span><span>CDL driver is expected to help with some of the logistical aspects of the tour such as taking and counting tickets, helping to set up and take down the lunches, escorting guests to the restrooms, etc. </span></span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>FEDERAL MOTOR CARRIER SAFETY ADMINISTRATION COMPLIANCE</span></span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Alaska Mountain Guides Adventures, Inc. (AMGA) and its sister companies </span><span>comply with</span><span> all applicable federal laws regarding CDL drivers and CDL operations. FMCSA regulations and AMGA’s own policies and procedures ensure that our guests will receive the highest quality tours possible in terms of bus transportation safety. As a result of federal regulations, each Haines CDL Driver will </span><span>be required</span><span> to </span><span>participate</span><span> in an approved random drug testing program </span><span>and</span><span> be </span><span>required</span><span> to complete and </span><span>maintain</span><span> some paperwork in addition to the regular employee paperwork for all other employees.</span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span>REQUIREMENTS</span></span></span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span>Maintain</span><span> a Class B CDL with Passenger and Airbrakes endorsement. Some Skagway </span></span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span>CDL positions may only require a Class C CDL.</span></span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Pass FMCSA </span><span>required</span><span> pre-employment drug tests &amp; screening.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Have and </span><span>maintain</span><span> a valid Medical Examiner’s Card.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Must </span><span>possess</span><span> a valid passport and be able to enter Canada.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Completion of AMGA Haines Driver training program (minimum of 8 hours).</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Must be willing to become certified or </span><span>possess</span><span> current certification in at least CPR and First Aid.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Must be able to </span><span>lift up</span><span> to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout each day.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Must be able to carry loads over uneven ground.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span>JOB DUTIES</span></span></span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Have and </span><span>maintain</span><span> a clean driving record to be insured by AMGA insurance.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><br><span>Maintain</span><span> an FMCSA approved logbook for driving hours.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Complete vehicle checklists as needed.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Responsible for cleanliness and excellent maintenance of buses, tour equipment, and the locations </span></span><span>that the tours visit.</span><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"> </span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Responsible for communicating all gear and vehicle issues to maintenance staff.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Complete </span><span>appropriate driver</span><span> checklists and paperwork at the end of each shift.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Must be a safe driver and obey all traffic laws.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; font-size: 15px\"><span> Work closely with, assist, and take directions from the trip ‘</span><span>S</span><span>pieler</span><span>’,</span><span> who </span><span>is responsible for</span><span> overall</span> <span>guest experience throughout the tour.</span></span><br></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: windowtext; AMG expects employees </span><span>to always conduct themselves in a professional manner</span><span> and provide a leading example in the community for the type of behavior associated with the quality guide service that employs them. </span><span>We live and work in small Alaskan communities, poor/inappropriate behavior </span><span>will quickly establish a bad reputation for an individual and reflect poorly on the </span><span>company as a whole</span><span>.</span><span> </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"color: #222222; font-size: 15px\"><span>LIVING SPACE AND RENT STRUCTURE</span></span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span> </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-size: 15px\"><span>Employee </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>housing </span><span>is located in</span><span> downtown Skagway, the grocery store and other attractions are within walking distance from housing. </span><span>Accommodations consist</span><span> of shared rooms typically 2-4 beds to a room, although the largest room is a 6-occupant bunkroom. Each house features shared bathrooms, a kitchen area, and </span><span>living</span><span> room. Employees </span><span>residing</span><span> in housing are expected to respect others and </span><span>maintain</span><span> a </span><span>clean living</span><span> area. Rent procedures are outlined in the Employee Manual. The two downtown houses share a large yard and mountain views, </span><span>providing</span><span> a fantastic base for our team. </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Additional Notes</span></span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span> </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Rent deductions are made twice a month with 50% of the month’s rent deducted from the 1</span><span>st</span><span> and 2</span><span>nd</span><span> paycheck. </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Rent is prorated for the first month, rent for the last pay period will be deducted in full even if you vacate housing early. </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Employees must vacate housing within 48 hours of their final shift unless other arrangements have been approved by management. </span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Failure to abide by </span><span>rules</span><span> outlined in the employee manual and housing agreement may result in immediate expulsion from employee housing.</span></span><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"> </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 15px\"><span>Pets - No Cats, No Dogs.
