This involves all aspects, i.e. budgeting, sales, oversees store operations, and management of all retail store staff. This position also demonstrates adherence to all agency policies and procedures, state statutes and federal regulations. This role is responsible for the supervision of Store Managers at West Duluth, Duluth Kenwood, Duluth Outlet, Superior, Ashland, Hermantown, Two Harbors Duties and Responsibilities Sustains high standards for merchandise layout, display and the housekeeping practices of assigned stores. Develop and maintain an overall production environment that assures maximum utilization of personnel and equipment. Reviews and modifies, as needed, retail floor space allocation within assigned stores. Recommends capital improvements and/or renovations, as appropriate. Locates least cost sources of supplies, materials and equipment via fair, open competition. Applies fair and consistent personnel practices as outlined in personnel policies in the recruitment, hiring, retention, dismissal and training of all assigned staff. Schedules, supervises, and develops assigned staff using performance evaluations, job coaching and other techniques. Works collaboratively with the President and CEO and Director of Retail to determine and develop plans of action for assigned retail store locations that are struggling to meet budgetary requirements. Conducts quarterly onsite inspections of assigned retail store locations to identify deficiencies in retail store operations in areas of customer service, production, flow, merchandising, cleanliness, recruiting, scheduling, inventory, safety, security and management functions. Summarizes results and implements change. Ensures good stewardship of all donations, through proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow in ad out of the store in accordance with agency policy and procedure. Maintains effective relationships with retail landlords. Visits assigned stores quarterly or as needed. Serves as interim Store Manager at assigned retail store locations that are in transition or recruiting. Keeps informed of product knowledge, the influence of seasons on sales, the availability of goods and appropriate pricing to maximize sales and profitability throughout the year. Sets price guidelines and is responsible for maintaining and updating product pricing guidelines. Actively manages progress of assigned retail stores toward budget objectives. Participates in annual budget development. Holds monthly meetings with Store Managers with recorded shared results. Assures that retail operations and provision of services to clients at all retail locations, meets or exceeds rehabilitation standards as set forth by CARF, RS or other accreditation bodies. Responsible for safety aspects of assigned stores including semi-annual safety inspections. Serves as a member of Goodwill’s Safety Committee. Participates in retail staff meetings, in-serve trainings, seminars, committee assignments and other meetings that may be desirable for personal, departmental or agency growth. Represents the agency in a positive way to the community, vendors and customers/donors. Accepts other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Skills and Competencies Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to work with a wide range of people. Flexibility – able to embrace the opportunity to try new processes and ideas. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on several projects at once. Ability to lead teams in managing and embracing change. Ability to hold direct and indirect reports accountable and demonstrate a high degree of proficiency and comfort with conflict resolution. Ability to make decisions and act decisively. Ability to foster a culture of continuous quality improvement (CQI). Ability to drive to assigned store locations as scheduled or required. Promotes and demonstrates ethical practices in all aspects of work. Promotes a safe work environment. Ability to work general office equipment such as computer, calculator and phone system. Proficiency is Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point Supports the mission and vision of the agency. Education and Experience Bachelor degree in marketing, merchandising or related field desired. Junior college or technical school training in merchandising with extensive retail experience desired. Minimum of 3 years management of retail store(s) required. 3 years direct experience in retail sales, with a minimum of 3 years management experience in other employment considered.
