Description

About the Role Shodair Children's Hospital is seeking dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to provide direct care and support to children and adolescents receiving behavioral health services. This role is an essential part of our multidisciplinary team, helping patients navigate daily routines, build life skills, and develop healthy emotional expression under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. MHTs play a critical role in supporting patients’ well-being through safety monitoring, group facilitation, therapeutic interaction, and crisis de-escalation. You will serve as a role model, encouraging appropriate behavior and helping to create a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment. Must be able to successfully perform physical holds, movements and carries. Blocking and redirecting patient movements against the patient’s weight Physical interventions in response to aggressive and self-injurious behavior. Ability to move quickly and confidently to intervene in situations when protective holds and/or movements are deemed necessary. Physically able to perform, but not but not limited to: pivoting, knee squats, shuffling front and backwards, assisting with carrying a person, assisting a person to the floor, stabilizing people in standing, seated, prone and supine positions.
