Description Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Process Safety Engineer to support complex energy and industrial projects across our Projects Canada portfolio. This role will contribute across the full project lifecycle, including conceptual studies, FEED, and detailed engineering. The successful candidate will provide technical safety leadership, ensuring that process safety, fire protection, and risk management principles are embedded into design and execution. We are seeking experienced professionals with strong technical expertise, stakeholder engagement capabilities, and the ability to influence safe and compliant project outcomes across multidisciplinary teams. #LI-Hybrid The Role The Senior Process Safety Engineer will act as a subject matter expert in process safety and fire protection, supporting multiple projects and clients. You will lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, develop safety design philosophies, and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards. This role requires a combination of technical depth, leadership in safety studies, and the ability to guide engineering teams and clients in implementing effective risk mitigation strategies. Develop fire protection philosophies and safety in design criteria. Firewater design- fire water demand, FW network including FW pumps and storage tanks. Fundamental understanding of special fire protection systems- deluge/water spray, foam, clean agents etc. Execute MOC jobs in tight timelines and budgets. Develop fire and safety equipment layout. Develop SOW/TOR for various safety studies e.g facility siting. PHAs, consequence modeling etc. Provide input to fire and gas detection layouts. Provide input to hazardous area classification. Provide input to layout and facility siting. Provide input to fireproofing. Participate in model reviews. Provide guidance on human factors and egress. Conduct PHA sessions (HAZID, What-IF, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL). Manage the closure of risk actions/recommendations generated from PHA. Perform consequence analysis and dispersion modelling. Collaboration with other engineering disciplines. Coordination and Interface with Clients. Complete conceptual studies through to detail engineering stages. Qualifications What makes you remarkable?
