Description Status: Full-Time (0.75 FTE) Shift Time: 6:30pm - 7:00am (shift times may have some variability) JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): While on duty, the PCS Supervisor acts as the Administrator of the Day (AOD). PCS Supervisors contribute to covering the 24/7 A of the Day shifts. Responsible for overall coordination of patient flow and services delivered to clients; works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The Patient Care Supervisory team is responsible for following plans to ensure quality patient care through effective management of the activities of the total patient care services including, but not limited to, a bed management plan, plan for services beyond capacity and plans to enhance coordination of care and ensure good communication with “hand-offs” between settings. When on duty, the Patient Care Supervisor actively manages patient flow throughout the hospital, participates in clinical assessments as indicated, facilitates patient hand-offs and is provides supervision to hospital staff on duty. Patient Care Supervisors monitor implementation of strategic quality improvement process as assigned. Direct supervision of the Patient Care Supervisor is provided by the Director of PCS, while day to day operational direction is provided by the Nursing Leadership Team through a consensus process. In the absence of the Hospital Administrator and/or designee, the Patient Care Supervisor has the authority and responsibility for administrative decisions and appropriate notification of administrators. KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE : Experience in supervision/management preferred. At least three years' experience in direct patient care required. One year as Charge Nurse is desired. EDUCATION : BSN preferred LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY : Active RN License in the state of Montana. BLS is required. Team Attributes: *Demonstrated ability to manage for results in key areas such as clinical quality, service excellence, people management, and financial management. *Demonstrated ability to create an environment of mutual trust and respect and two-way communication. *Demonstrated ability to hire, retain, develop, and promote talented people and build team spirit. *Demonstrated ability to actively pursue positive change, both personally and organizationally. Demonstrated ability to adapt to change. *Demonstrated willingness to serve key constituents, including patients, coworkers, physicians, the community, and the organization and to exceed customer expectations. *Demonstrated ability to work in interdisciplinary team for the benefit of the organization as a whole. *Demonstrated ability to control limited healthcare resources by effectively managing the organization's human, financial, technological, and other key resources. *Demonstrated ability to organize the parts of a problem or situation by breaking it apart into small pieces, making systematic comparisons of different features or aspects and taking a step-by-step approach. Demonstrated ability to probe and ask questions, seeking first to understand before being understood. *Demonstrates integrity by actions that are consistent with what she/he says, communicating ideas openly and directly, and welcoming openness and honesty from others. *Demonstrated ability and commitment to foster the growth and development of others. *Demonstrated ability to create a shared mission and vision and to effectively direct the activities of individuals and groups towards the accomplishment of established goals. *Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. *Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities, stressors, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers effectively.
