They will work in a multidisciplinary team, leading tasks related to earth dam design and construction. The ideal candidate will gain valuable industry experience working at a multinational Engineering firm, while practicing our values of One Team, Excellence, Curiosity, Common Sense, and Clarity.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">This position can be based at one of our Canadian locations listed above.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">Responsibilities</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Act as a project engineer and technical lead under the direction of the Engineer of Record for tailings projects</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Train, mentor, and supervise technical work of Junior staff</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Manage projects, prepare proposals, and track budgets.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Author or co-author reports</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Organize and supervise field programs, including: site investigation, construction, dam safety inspections</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Work with client representatives</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Travel as required, which could include extended shifts at remote sites</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">Required Education, Experience &amp; Competencies</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">5-15 years relevant work experience</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Undergraduate degree in Civil or Geological Engineering</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Post-graduate degree is an asset</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Registered (or eligible for registration) as a professional engineer</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Experience in tailings management</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Experience in tailings dam site investigation, design, or construction support</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Excellent communication skills</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">Position Requirements</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\"><em>Drug &amp; Alcohol Testing</em></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">To ensure we meet our client’s compliance requirements and our workplace health and safety commitments, BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that applies to this position.  The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work. This testing could be requested within an employee’s first week or in the future, as required.
