Salary Details The salary range for this position is CAD $46.39/Hr. - CAD $66.68/Hr. Job Summary Come work as a Program Leader, Safety and Prevention with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Program Leader, Safety and Prevention to join the Safety and Prevention team in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team! As a Program Leader, Safety and Prevention at Vancouver Coastal Health you will: Provide leadership, development, administration and evaluation of designated safety programs/projects throughout Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), that support the provision of a safe and healthy workplace through the enhancement and expansion of safety programs and prevention strategies. Be accountable for defining emerging safety concerns, challenges and risks, prepare mitigation strategies and solutions, and work with organizational leadership to manage proactive and necessary changes. Lead and mentor designated safety advisors and program support staff to provide safety programs for employees that will eliminate or reduce potential workplace hazards and assist in creating and maintaining a healthy and safe work environment. Operate in a complex and dynamic health care environment with multiple unions and stakeholders, and it is crucial to develop and cultivate strong working partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders, and represent VCH interests to HEABC, Unions and other outside agencies including WorkSafeBC. Obtain funding and support for new initiatives and projects and ensures a successful expansion of the safety services at VCH. Qualifications Education & Experience Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized and accredited program or relevant field, and a minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years’ recent, related experience in a unionized healthcare environment including experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP). Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license as local area travel requires the use of a vehicle. Knowledge & Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and practices. Demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate and consult effectively with a variety of audiences and stakeholder groups. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation. Demonstrated experience or working knowledge of quality improvement and change management methodologies. Demonstrated excellent communications skills both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to problem solve with a global perspective to incorporate the organization’s strategies when developing viable solutions to problems. Proficiency in the use of current, applicable software applications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. Closing Statement As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
