This position supports inpatient, outpatient, community-based outpatient clinics, and emergency department settings, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with VA policies and community standards of practice. The role is well-supported operationally and clinically, with consistent staffing, defined schedules, and mission-aligned leadership. As the service continues to expand access, this provider will meaningfully contribute to program development and continuity of patient services.</p>\n<h2>Primary Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Perform comprehensive pre-anesthesia evaluations, including history and physical examinations, risk assessment, and development of individualized anesthesia care plans.</li>\n <li>Provide safe, high-quality anesthesia services across all practice settings, including general, regional, spinal, epidural, and monitored anesthesia care, in accordance with community and VA standards.</li>\n <li>Manage airways in routine, complex, and emergent situations, including advanced airway techniques and mechanical ventilation as required.</li>\n <li>Place and manage invasive monitoring devices, including arterial lines and central venous catheters, when clinically indicated.</li>\n <li>Document anesthesia care, plans, and patient responses accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.</li>\n <li>Supervise, guide, and provide clinical leadership to Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and other anesthesia personnel.</li>\n <li>Mentor, teach, and support physicians, CRNAs, and residents in anesthesia techniques, airway management, and perioperative best practices.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with perioperative and interdisciplinary teams to optimize operating room efficiency, patient flow, and overall quality of care.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Work Environment & Schedule</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Monday–Friday, 7:00-3:30</li>\n <li>On-Call Coverage: Minimal</li>\n <li>Collaborative support from nursing and administrative personnel</li>\n</ul>\n<h2><strong>Compensation & Benefits</strong></h2>\n<ul>\n <li>$325,000-$400,000 salary</li>\n <li>Eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) up to $200,000</li>\n <li>Comprehensive total rewards package includes:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)</li>\n   <li>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</li>\n   <li>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</li>\n   <li>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</li>\n   <li>CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)</li>\n   <li>Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided</li>\n   <li>Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>You must have an MD or DO degree from a properly accredited medical school in the year you graduated. For foreign medical graduates, the school must have met ECFMG eligibility requirements for your graduation year.</li>\n <li>To work as a VA physician, you must complete an approved residency that makes you eligible for board certification, either in an ACGME or AOA program, or through an equivalent combination of training and independent practice in the United States. Non‑US residencies can also count if you then have at least three years of licensed practice in the U.S. in relevant duties, and the local medical staff agrees your training and experience are appropriate.</li>\n <li>Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory</li>\n <li>Demonstrated clinical competence in anesthetic management, supported by residency case logs or a hospital quality profile documenting recent clinical activity</li>\n <li>Ability to provide anesthesia care across a range of modalities, including general, regional, spinal, epidural, and monitored anesthesia care</li>\n <li>Competency in advanced and emergent airway management, including mechanical ventilation</li>\n <li>Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws and VA policies</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Desired Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience practicing in a hospital-based or integrated healthcare system</li>\n <li>Prior experience supervising or collaborating with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)</li>\n <li>Proficiency in placement of arterial lines and central venous catheters</li>\n <li>Experience with fiberoptic or other advanced airway techniques</li>\n <li>Teaching or mentoring experience with physicians, CRNAs, or medical trainees</li>\n <li>Familiarity with perioperative workflow optimization and operating room efficiency initiatives</li>\n <li>Experience working within Veterans Affairs, federal healthcare systems, or similarly regulated environments</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>About Aptive</h2>\n<p>Arrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
